We have been to café rouge for lunch today, it was the first time for all of us eating here and unfortunately it wasn't great really. First thing to be wrong us that we found the waiter to be quite rude, not really passionate about what he was doing. Then the food came fairly quick but not well presented, the cheese fonduta was served with big pieces of carrots and celery that didn't taste good with it at all and the bread croutons were really few, so we had to ask for more bread. Then about the mains, the salmon was quite nice but the side of vegetables was really sad, without any condiments and not with a great taste. The dessert was nice. Again when paying the waiter's service hasn't been the best. I'm sorry for the bad review, maybe it was a bad day, but for the price of the food I was expecting a better presentation and a better service.
Fairly nice chain cafe/restaurant, with a French twist. We had a three course meal, my steak was very good & cooked to my liking, thought that the drinks where a little pricey for what you got. Service was friendly, prompt & we had no issues.
Only on a few occasions I have been dinning and lunching at this restaurant, so I could not give too much details about their food, but I must say they have a great dish called Demi Poulet, which is a half roast chicken, marinated with garlic and herbs and it’s so delicious. The chicken is fresh and crispy and the fries that comes on the side are perfect. I also love the Sourdough Flatbread with garlic and Emmental cheese and it is absolutely great for a starter. Many of my friends tried the Salmon and they said it’s fantastic. I’m not a fan of fish, so I didn’t get a taste, but it looks appetizing! I would definitely recommend this restaurant on your ‘to go eat at’ list, if you have one
Booked online for afternoon at 12 only to be told it wasn't served until two they say they would ask the kitchen but we decided on the main menu I had chicken and chipsbwhich was lovely. Quick service and friendly staff.
Lovely brunch at Cafe Rouge, Cheltenham. Great attentive service with staff going out of their way to accommodate the dogs as well. Very nice coffee - I ordered a vanilla latte and the syrup comes on the side so you can add to taste which I really like. The food was also good - we had pancakes with fresh fruit and a croissant. The croissant and coffee deal is great - £3.50 for both. The fruit was lovely and fresh and pancakes fluffy. Very nice experience.
If I could, I'd give a zero star. Just had the worse experience here. My hen lunch was booked here through Chilli Sauce. The horror show started when we arrived and the person who attended to us told us there was no booking. She made my maid of honour pull up the email, and show her the confirmation. My MoH was made to feel awkward, uncomfortable and at fault, questioning her booking. Eventually said lady found an iPad with their new system and found the booking. Apology was half hearted, a table was set up for us. We booked the bottomless prosecco lunch and we were asked to pay for the prosecco! The restaurant was quiet, yet the service was slow, we had the wrong order of afternoon tea brought to the table, when we said it wasn't ours, the waitress rolled her eyes. 7 steak frites ordered, 5 of which were supposed to be medium rare, but they were all medium to well done. I told the manager who looked at me indignantly and said she would tell the chef. This ruined the start of hen do. Out of all this, only Aggy provided great service. If only the rest of the team could follow in her example.
The food is excellent here the wating staff have gone out of there way to make sure your order is corect one of the best place to eat in Cheltenham will defiantly be back for more. They have designated vegan & glutan free menus to cater for everyone & they make sure to ask if you have any food allergies, so they can accommodate appropriately. if you just pop in for a quick coffee or a bite to eat this is the place to be
Good central meeting point in town with a popular seating area outside on the prom. Great spot for relaxing and people watching. Menu is ok but we usually just stop for coffee. Staff are friendly but do take a long time to take orders and wait for drinks can take over half hour even when not particularly busy. Food orders can take over an hour.
Well, we ordered delivery from the Café Rouge-based Stack + Grill delivery only. We ordered two croque club sandwiches, with two orders of fries and breaded halloumi sticks on the side; we wound up with two croque mushroom, one order of fries, and about 5 fairly anemic, cold sticks of breaded halloumi. About the fries... We're almost positive someone just stopped at McDonald's and dumped an order of their fries into a bag. The taste and aesthetic resemblance is uncanny. They just cost twice as much.
Delicious food and lovely staff as always
