For my friends 50th birthday treat I booked afternoon tea here. But when we went to the Laura Ashley tearoom it was shut! We we're sent to have it in the bar not quite the lovely setting I had in mind for a birthday treat. We didn't eat all f it and took the scones home. We had them later that evening but they were so hard it was like cutting a dense chewy biscuit and they were totally inedible. I was bizarrely charged £24.50, but afternoon tea is advertised as £23/person, but, to be honest, I would pay nothing as the whole experience was disappointing. The only good thing was the barman on duty who was put in an awkward position of suddenly having to serve our afternoon tea - he was polite and attentive. I would definitely not recommend. The afternoon tea isn't worth the money, there are much better places doing nicer afternoon teas for the same price.
Do not visit. For a brand of such, my experience at the Laura Ashley tearooms was shocking. No one was there to seat us or greet us. Although the tea was good, we had no teaspoons and had to ask twice before they arrived. The food was disappointing to say the least. Dry bread no butted, well done poached eggs, unripe Avocado, uncooked halloumi and barely any hollandaise sauce. Deajai, I believe his name was, was the only staff member who was of any help to us. Do not recommend at all.
Arrived ,eventually greeted, taken to a table. Then informed we needed to register car reg at reception??? Why they didn't ask on booking or phone our details to reception. We had to go down lots of corridors and then down a staircase to queue to give our details. Afternoon tea was served with our choice of tea. We had six finger sized sandwiches between us. 2 scones which had been warmed ,with one tiny pot of jam ,no choice of jam,and a small jar used to put the cream in to share between us. The cakes were minute ,looked frozen not the delicious selection you would have expected.. We had to ask for another pot of tea. No one asked had we got what we needed, or did we require more jam cream or whatever . Total disappointment, not worth the money at all ,for the atmosphere food or anything else.
Rubbish. Very poor sandwiches in choice and portion size. The actual tea rooms were closed and we were seated in reception area which was noisy. Would not go again and definitely not worth anything near £30 per headFood: 2/5
Me and my sisters went there for afternoon tea on the 2nd of September for a birthday celebration for three of us. We also went with our niece who is three years old. We went in and we were given a table with no cutlery with grey chairs at the front of reception and the main door and asked is there as Laura Ashley room fully booked as we pre-booked it from June. They said they just had a lot of people come in so it is booked and then I said well I’m not staying if you can’t give us a proper Laura Ashley room, so all of a sudden it within five minutes, the tea room was empty so clearly the waiter was not bothered about setting up our table. I said we booked in for afternoon tea. He still give us the menus for the brunch and I said we booked in for afternoon tea so not acknowledged our booking in thee first place. So then we ordered our afternoon tea, making aware we can’t have the ham sandwich, they still give us the ham sandwich!! We returned our sandwiches 3x!! Including my nieces! And also the sandwiches look like children sandwiches. It was so small it was it wasn’t stacked. It was just one little plate between two people and two people are supposed to pay £23 each that is disgusting! It was disgraceful for a tea room that has got a reputation of high class when clearly it wasn’t the case didn’t respect our dietary requirement or our booking details. It was disappointing to say the least. FYI I did complain at the reimbursed us £20 out of a whole bill which was appreciated, but the experience was still disappointing.
Worst Afternoon Tea we’ve ever had! We chose Laura Ashley Tea Rooms recently for a special occasion and was completely disappointed with the whole experience. You hardly get any food 3 tiny sandwiches ea and what we did get did not taste fresh. The service was poor and when we arrived we were told they no longer did the savory option which we’d paid for. No prior warning. To say they charge £23.00 ea is madness!! I have since contacted the tea rooms and management and not heard anything from them. We will definitely not be returning and given this experience will not visit the hotel either.
Had a overnight Spa break here which was bought as a gift, the kenwood Hall is a absolutely stunning place. Though very tired which is expected of a building this age, our afternoon tea experience in the Laura Ashley tea rooms was poor to say the least, the waitress was so rude actually saw her rolling her eyes at us as we asked to sit in the window, we was seated for around 20 mind and had to ask for drinks, the table wasn't set correctly we never had any napkins and the glasses was dirty, the food was poor sandwiches dry obviously been made a while, the worst afternoon tea iv had, We also had a three course meal later that evening in the Laura Ashley tea rooms, again no table cloth dirty table and paper napkins, the food was OK but that's about it, the room had 2 broken windows which couldn't be opened or closed as ivy was growing through one of them, all in all I would not return, I suppose I just expected more from such a beautiful place.
The place is very dirty The service is very bad and slow, it takes time to sit down, take orders and pay. An experience that will not be repeated
Came with my daughter for mother's day, I think it's the 5th time we've been, all the other times we're lovely, last sun was not! The food was very sparce, 3 tiny sandwiches each, egg & cheese, 3 small cakes & tiny scones & they forgot the jam & cream, obviously it was busy as it was mother's day, the guy working was great we were there from 1.30pm the girl working, was rude, unwelcoming & we had to listen to her raising her voice at the people across the room, who had quietly asked for assistance....it was so bad it was comical, just not so funny on the pocket, nearly £50, yes it was busy, but how hard is it to hand out sandwiches & cakes, you definitely need to think about replacing that girl, we won't be returning & it's a shame, we're local & we had always enjoyed it, until Sunday......
Very quiet. Not much atmosphere but nice ly decorated. The sandwich bread was quite thick and dry not dainty for afternoon tea. Scones good. Choice of dainty cakes good. Service not brilliant just ok. Seeing as we had booked in advance had to wait quite a while and just two of us there. No goodbyes as just left on our own. Overall average.
