I work there, so it is a friendly atmosphere to work in. The children are well behaved and polite. This goes a long way as I am only a lunchtime supervisor and a cleaner at the end of the day. The teachers and other staff always have to say hello or have a conversation with you. As you come through the door to reception the administration staff are ready and waiting with a smile and are ready for anything that you throw them. I have put all my children through the school and am really chuffed with them.
I spent 5 dreadful years at this horrendous secondary school and would NOT reccomend it to parents of the future generations to come.
Lol, gone downhill fast since my first year there, cant wait to leave. ‘Wellbeing’ centre is used to punish kids who’s hair is a tad too short instead of being reserved for the people who actually need a place to go. Uncontrollable lower years, not entirely the teachers fault but seriously if they dont care about detentions why keep giving them out. No stimulation or things to do during breaks and lunches, leading to boredom and then outbreaks of misbehavior from that boredom, which is then blamed on the kids and punished because of it. Same situation with phones, completely understand the rules against them but if the school is really adamant on giving students nothing to do during their free time then there should at least be a designated area to be allowed to use phones, like a room, supervised area, etc. overall just disappointing, it had so much potential to be amazing.
Probably the most in-depth review: This review was originally 2 stars but now, with my 5 years full experience with this school I’ve edited and elongated my review. So, its ok. Did not enjoy being there but who will enjoy school as a kid. school takes care of problems fast but mostly in the easiest way for them. edit: so close to leaving this school now and here’s my final review after being here from day one year 7, lower years or any year infact are immensely uncontrolled and are free to do anything they want with little punishment, as stated by other reviews the well-being centre that is meant for mental health etc. is used to punish people with the wrong haircuts or shoes, me, with my experience, I’ve had panic attacks and been told that the rooms in the centre were full and was sent back to my lessons on verge of full breakdown. Breaks and lunches are so uneventful it’s incredible, in other words the only break you get is probably worse than the lessons. Teachers are mostly ok however some classes are uncontrolled and it can be hard or almost impossible to learn in them. I honestly wouldn’t recommend it as a student of 5 years. It has seriously declined in quality. Punishment is in many ways unfair for the severity of the misbehaviour. It Seems like sometimes more successful students or higher set students are treated better and with better attention from teachers. Toilets boys or girls as said by the head teacher publicly to students are the most threatening place to be for lower years as found out in a study and questionnaire of kind on kids, they are not toilets, they are a common room for kids to do something or anything during breaks or lunches or even in between/during lessons usually filled with very loud and aggressive acting kids, the boys toilets especially. Toilet seats removed totally, doors with locks kicked totally in, stall walls completely kicked in or knocked over, drawings of not so ‘friendly’ nature that the teachers constantly fail to remove in stalls. Under supplied subjects are the least of your worries at this school for your kids. I can’t see this school getting better any time soon after I leave. That’s all I can say that is related to the subject, hope it’s enough to make a good choice for your kids.
