Cosy japanese-styled café with great food. Good quality desserts too. A must-visit.
Came here just for the matcha latte and was not disappointed! It was so good that we got 2 each! Will come back here for food someday to try it out. Staff were friendly and attentive.
Such an authentic restaurant with Japanese atmosphere from the door. The menu is very yummy looking and there's vegetarian option as well. Always fresh, always something new and only with the best products - never had it wrong. Nice art on the walls and a bookshelf to introduce or support your lunch thematic. Never overcrowded which makes it be high level quality.
The food is absolutely delicious here! I have the Donburi bowls regularly - the combinations of flavour are so good. : This place is so much more than the typical sushi restaurants in the area.. . It feels like the dishes are really authentic, prepared with great attention to taste and overall experience. Try it!
Went here for the first time recently and had a great meal. All the food was really tasty, particularity the tofu starter we had. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxed and the staff were really helpful. We arrived at 7:30 and it was pretty quiet but a few more tables came in while we were eating. Overall it felt like very authentic a Japanese meal in a greenfly environment.
Cute little Japanese cafe dishing up some authentic cafe style food. Great attention to detail and impeccable service so typical of Japanese eateries. However during busy times, the food takes some time to come as I think there is only one chef.
Really like the place. Decor not a typical or perhaps, stereotypical Japanese restaurant / cafe. Food is delicious, with a selection of good loose leaf tea. Service is friendly and attentive. Would definitely visit again.
Quite simply the best ‘home made’ Japanese food you will get in London. Lots of authentic dishes you don’t see often and made with high, high standards - - gluten free, organic and sustainable fish all feature. Decor is super simple and a little kooky, but that’s its charm. Wine is good quality and service excellent. We came far for this place and weren’t disappointed. Annoyingly I ate everything before doing photos because it was so tasty. But you will too I’m sure ... and that’s a good thing. Receipts are hand written which is just too cute for words
After moving from Japan back to the UK, I have been struggling to find tasty and authentic Japanese food, and no luck for quite some time. But then I found this place, and I have fallen in love! Really nice place, quiet cozy and very friendly. Spotlessly clean, as expected since It's owned and run by actual Japanese people. Food is amazing and prices are very good. The sweet chilli karage-don is to die for! Also, the green matcha cake is just delicious, and goes well with tasty latte. I really recommend this place to anyone who likes to try and enjoy a homemade Japanese food and misses tastes of Japan.
Lagu really is a special experience. The owner, from Japan, prides herself in serving healthy, alternative Japanese food that stays true to the comfort and love that comes from a homemade dish. The food is prepped professionally by a top-rated chef with several decades of experience in high end Tokyo cuisine, and the staff are always friendly and eager to serve with a smile. It's a small place, with only about 10 tables, but it's often quiet enough that reservations aren't required. The atmosphere is cozy, often there is some quiete music in the background, and there is a small collection of Japanese books and comics near the back tables, practically encouraging you to spend the afternoon relaxing here with some tea. The aesthetic is quaint, with mismatched cafe chairs in the back and a modern cafe front, it feels like you're relaxing at home and not anxiously awaiting your bill at a 5 star restaurant. Not to say you don't feel like you're eating at a 5 star restaurant. The food is always consistently prepared, looking aestheticly pleasing and arriving in a timely manner every single meal. And by god the food itself - so amazing. The japanese style fried chicken karaage is a must-try. The selection of drinks is fair and there are quite a few teas as well, and most of the menu does have vegetarian and vegan options. The staff is usually fairly accomodating for changes as well. Overall, the price is a little steep for a quick bite at average £10-15 a head, but for the experience and the delicious food, it is easily one of the cheaper places to sit down and have a meal. As for the quality I daresay it's one of the best Japanese restaurants in London as well as one of the closest meals to true Japanese home-cooked that you can experience in London.
