Lady Manners School in Bakewell is a foundation school established in 1636 by Grace, Lady Manners, a member of the Duke of Rutland's family. The school is fully comprehensive and serves a wide rural catchment area encompassing many villages as well as Bakewell. The school is one of the largest in the county with 1442 students on roll including 290 in the Sixth Form.
