Only have dinner there: pate and pasta. I got some free perks incl. Tap water iced and lemon . The pasta wasn't described in the menu but the waiver guess the owner game me zero excuses to make it. Superb pasta execution and rich in flavour and textura... and £19. 00 for the bill. Can I ask for more! Probably not, but certainly I will return 24/July. My favourite restaurant @Harrogate. Feeling like I'm at home, always nice and lovely service Umberto and Olivia with superb food and drink. This is real Italian food ! refuse imitations 31/July. Another awesome dinner experience in my Roman friend Umberto restaurant: Milanese con pasta....superb experience for my senses!
I was accompanied by three ladies there, all of whom were truly looking forward to this recommended Italian joint.  We arrived in plenty time for the early-bird menu at about twelve quid a head including wine and any pasta dish ... but the ladies, foodies all, decided that starters were required and ordered two bruscetta dishes, breads with oil and balsamic, and soup for me.  The soup purported to be lentil but was more of a thinnish minestrone of lentil concoction, but perfectly palatable.  The breads were lovely in-house Italian whites alone and the bruscettas were devoid of tomatoes but embellished with mushrooms in their stead ... and the girls seemed not too undelighted.  Two peasant-plated portions of meatballs in pasta further appeared to satisfy these two, while my wife had salmon pasta and I plumped for linguini carbonara.  The salmon dish was primitive but filling, my carbonara 'speciality' was bland and uninspiring, but edible, just.  A pre-theatre meal for four at under fifty spots there might have tickled our fancy but what we had for just under seventy quid was a bit too little, too late, too careless. However, the waitresses were attentive, and the place was reasonably authentic ... and maybe a bigger spend might have wrought a more satisfactory result ... but, alas, we shall not find that out now.  The lesson to be learned is that initial impressions last long in a first-time diner's memories ... and the fierce competition, especially in a town like Harrogate, is what drives quality and value for one's buck .... and, of course, gets noticed.
You know if you walk into a restaurant and it smells of garlic and good wine that you've picked a winner. This place, while small, has outsized flavours. The staff was exceptionally attentive and the food was flavourful and fresh. I had the spicy mussels which I admit was a bit of a gamble but it paid off in spades. Fresh, good quality mussels with a delicious tomato and wine sauce. 10/10 would recommend.
We went here for a treat for my birthday. We don't often have Italian as my husband is Italian and restaurants over here don't tend to meet our expectations... This is a very small restaurant so I would suggest booking in advance to ensure a table. If you want a quick meal this also isn't the place for you... the food is cooked fresh and is VERY nice. I would definitely go back here to eat.
7 of us went last night for a get together and all were very impressed by this little gem of a Restaurant. From our friendly greeting at the door to the fond farewell at the end of a 3 hour dinner everything was perfect. Fast food it is not but who wants fast food when food this good is so well worth waiting for. It was marvellous just to relax, enjoy a good chinwag with our friends and take our time over delicious food. We had a wide variety of dishes, most chosen from the 3 Specials Boards and every one was spot on. All the starters came at the same time, as did the mains, all were hot and all cooked to perfection. Desserts were made room for and again proclaimed as delicious. The house wines were more than adequate and very reasonably priced. Indeed the whole meal was excellent value working out at around £35 a head inclusive of drinks and gratuities. Service throughout was attentive and prompt without being pushy,, just as we wanted it. Very highly recommended, just allow time to enjoy it.
Only finished there half an hour ago and feel compelled to review. Booked for me and my girlfriend's belated Valentines Day celebration which I had very fleetingly mentioned when initially booking the table three weeks beforehand. We were met on arrival with a specially decorated table in a corner that was clearly reserved for our meal on a busy Saturday night. The food was top notch and the management and staff were so friendly and nothing was too much of an ask for them. It's an age old cliche but five stars isn't enough. The manager went on to assist us after our meal with places we should visit on our last day and was so kind which was a hugely appreciated and very personal touch. Thank you for a wonderful experience on my first stay in Harrogate. I will return and I will send my friends who come over to stay in this wonderful town your way. Thank you! X
What a wonderful evening! Umberto, the Manager and his waitress Olivia, were fantastic. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome with attentive, but not overbearing service. We ordered from the set menu which was well proportioned for the price, and absolutely delicious. This is an authentic Italian restaurant run by staff who take real care and pride in their work. What a great find for our only night in Harrogate. Thank you Umberto and Olivia for a lovely evening. Keep up the great work!
Chose to come to the restaurant after reading all the rave reviews....and I was not disappointed!! A lovely little restaurant which caters for all tastes wrt Italian Cuisine on both the food and wine front. The staff were lovely, attentive and providing a great level of service. Both my girlfriend and I had a wonderful evening and our experience here played a major part.
Wonderful staff, incredible food, can’t wait to go back! Exceptionally reasonable early bird deal, with very well priced soft drinks. I had the pappardelle calabrese al pollo, the sauce was full of flavour and the portion the perfect size. Didn’t have time to stay for dessert but the ones that arrived on the table next door looked fantastic
An anniversary meal out, made special by the nice gesture made by the staff of a little banner. We had 2 starters and 2 mains all were excellently presented and really tasty. Thank you for a lovely meal
