Visited the King's Theatre last night for Gio's Let Me Entertain You tour. It's an intimate theatre with good views of the stage. A bit tight on leg room, but not uncomfortably so. I have to say it was a sell-out event, but the helpers were very organised and friendly, and we all got to our seats quickly, considering how busy it was. Parking isn't easy as the theatre is in the city centre, the nearest being Waitrose, 8 minutes walk away. All in all, an intimate theatre, and look forward to visiting again. I have to confess we were not supposed to take pictures but couldn't resist at the end.
Visited tecently for a Bowie 'celebration' Act. Good evening, not totally convinced by Lead Performer but music great and this really is a case of 'tough act to follow. 'Changes' was the best song to reflect his numerous Costume switches which was entertaining in itself. Excellent musicianship, led by main Guitarist / producer of show. Great to pop back to see the Theatre itself. A little Gem. !
Great old style theatre located in Portsmouth. Easy parking and easy to get to. Anton Du Beke tour was amazing back in September 2023. March 2024, seeing Graziano Di Prima's tour was great. Well recommended
Beautiful venue with lots of variety of shows on offer. Went to see Heather's Wednesday August 7th, fantastic show. Looking forward to booking to see SIX for April 2025.
I love visiting the Kings theatre. My advice to those looking to book, the grand circle slip seats are a bargain but be aware of the lack of legroom. I'm 5'9" and it became very uncomfortable by the interval. However, I also sat on the front row of the stall and the back row of the dress circle for the same show and was perfectly comfortable.
Went to see 12th night tonight and was graciously pleased, the staff on hand were pleasant and helpful and the show was put on well, with some standout youngsters as well as a good demographic in the backgrounds, so well done to all performers on stage, behind the scenes and FOH
We saw "Stranger Sings" at the Kings on Saturday for my birthday, and was so impressed with the theatre and the staff we're looking forward to coming back to watch more performances.
While i enjoy the theatre, make sure you get an isle seat, 6'3", which is tight, even more so, when you have the same height of people next to you, then it's impossible. Get a balcony for comfort.
Beautiful Edwardian Theatre with stunning original features. Foyer is beautiful when you look up....sculptures of angels, swags of delicate fabric, and paintings of roses. An abundance of a bygone era throughout.
Now who doesn’t love a pantomime! Oh Yes you do!! The Kings Theatre Southsea is a beautiful old building on Albert Road. Friendly & accommodating, have brilliant shows, go & try them! I got to go on stage last week with the cast of Hook!
