King's Lock Tearooms

About

We are a small family run tearoom, serving hot drinks, baguettes, soups and a good selection of fresh scones and cakes. Come and try or breakfast specials from 10.30-12.

Story

We are a small family run tearooms, operating from the last existing Lock Keeper's cottage in Leicester. Inside the cottage is small and has limited seating (approx 17). However we have a large garden area, seating around 70, which includes an all weather shelter.
Dogs are very welcome in the garden and a free dog biscuit and fresh water awaits.
We bake fresh baguettes daily which come with a wide range of fillings. Homemade soups are a speciality. If you fancy a treat then there is a wide choice of mouthwatering cakes, fresh baked scones or delicious flavours of Marshfields ice cream. For early risers, we are offering breakfast specials from 10.30-12.00

Had coffee and cream tea. Parking close by with short walk to a beautiful back garden with a picturesque view of horses and meadows. Truly peaceful way to round up a leisurely walk along the canal.

A great tea room accessed from the canal towpath and some steps from great central way. they serve teas, coffees and various baguettes. It's a pity it does not overlook the canal but is still a pleasant stopping point during a walk. Some seating is available under cover but this is quite a small area so you may struggle to find space when it's raining.

Great food, great views. Indoor & outdoor seating. Great place to eat for a soup, baguette and a cake. Lovely friendly staff. Never left without having had a really lovely time.

2017 update. Oh dear. Now outside seating only and tables not wiped before day starts. Smoking now inescapable. Coffee still dreadful. No view to canal. Lovely setting just off the beaten track. On the towpath 5 mins walk from car park and cycle track. We only had drinks and the tea was good. Coffee, though espresso, was truly dreadful with a harsh cheap taste. Service was slow even though not busy.

Lovely little tea-room by the River Soar, great stop to break a walk along the river bank. Lovely selection of cakes and snacks at reasonable prices. Watch the horses while you sip some tea and nibble a scone!
