Went in last year to report that a car had just hit me as I walked across the road next to the police station due to dangerous driving and then the driver had got out of the car and threatened to "kick me head in"...all whilst I was 7 months pregnant! The man in question had been in station prior to me to report I had caused damage to his car (I imagine this was due to the fact he realised he'd just driven in to a woman that was 7 months pregnant and hoped his accusation would over shadow what he had done to me). Walked in to the police station where I was met by some smarmy female receptionist who greeted me with "oooooo I've just seen a picture of you" (the man had taken a picture of me)...hardly an appropriate greeting given the circumstances! I was then made to wait for 20 mins on an uncomfortable metal bench whilst in pain from the incident. Eventually a make and female police officer took me in to an interview room. Didn't write down any of side of the story and told me I was being investigated for criminal damage on the mans car? I asked did he provide any evidence of this damage and his response was no...despite his car being parked outside?!? Surely if he could take a picture of me then he could take a picture of the damage to his car?!? That would be the first thing I'd take a picture of! When I said that the police man was taking the man side purely because he was male he became very angry and started shouting at me saying he was very offended that I was accusing him of being sexist?!? Not at any point was I offered any medical assistance or even a drink of water...I WAS 7 MONTHS PREGNANT AND HIS BY A GOD DAMN CAR...my well being should have been at the forefront of their minds before some bogus accusation! I left spent 4 hrs being monitored at the maternity unit at St. James's...thank goodness as was ok! I received a phone call two weeks later off another police man to say the man had agreed to drop the issue if I agreed to do the same...hmmmm was that because he was the guilty one maybe?!? Absolutely disgusting attitudes of the female receptionists and the male police men thinking they can abuse their position of power!
