Story

Kerry County Council delivers a wide range of services and supports to local communities across the county. These include Housing, Roads, Water Environmental Protection, Planning, Emergency Services and many more.

In addition to the three main towns, the towns of An Daingean, Ballybunion, Cahirciveen, Castleisland, Kenmare and Killorglin play a strategic role in servicing their rural catchments as well as supporting and driving the rural economy of the County.

Kerry County Council is a vital agent in ensuring that the needs of both rural and urban communities are catered for.

However, at the same time the Local Authority is required to take an overall, strategic view of the county to ensure that the future development of the county takes place in an integrated and planned manner. This is to ensure that the quality of life for current and future generations is safeguarded, having regard to the county’s unique historical, natural, cultural and sporting heritage.

Together with our staff, and other agencies, including voluntary and state bodies, Kerry County Council seeks to enhance the quality of life of our people and visitors by building sustainable communities and delivering quality services.

The Council provides the proper environment to allow the economic development of the county, with investment in essential infrastructure such as transport and communication links crucial in attracting and encouraging business interests to Kerry.

I dealt with a man called Aaron yesturday in the HAP section and from my experience he was the nicest and most helpful person I've dealt with from the council, Said he'd call me back at a certain time he rang me 10 mins before it and explained everything in detail, I've gotten in touch previously with people from the council that basically treated me like a child spoke to me like I was dirt and fobbed me off like I was nothing! Thanks Aaron your brilliant!
I personally have had a awful ignorant non caring attitude at this office. I have never felt so worthless. No correspondence no updates just left hanging on a string for over 4 months with no answers. Trying to get any real true answers is a no no.
Have to say staff are generally pleasant and to be honest thye really do try their best for the public
