I came here three days running whilst staying in Totnes on holiday. I kept coming back because there was a great selection of dishes I hadn't had back in my home county of Essex. The waiter was very helpful and friendly and keen to suggest choices on the menu. The curries were tasty and served promptly. Prices were standard.
I do not normally write reviews but was inspired to on this occasion. We had a takeaway from Kerala Totnes. Although it did take a long time to arrive the food was excellent. Probably some of the best Indian I have ever had, everything was cooked and spiced perfectly and the meat melted in the mouth.....Very highly recommended!
I like this restaurants food. The menu is good, there is plenty of choice including many vegetarian options, and the South indian cuisine using pepper and other spices for heat rather than chilli has a better flavour and complexity to it than most Indian food which is mostly northern or Pakistani. One minus is how do you justify £6 OK £5.98 a pint if you order in halfs for beer which is £4.60 In pint measures. This nonsense to punish sensible drinking by drivers etc. Is just not acceptable.
Great restaurant, good ambience and proximity to the centre of totnes. Didnt seem too lah-di-dah, but still classy at the same time. Only problem i had was the masala dosa i had was a bit underwhelming. I dont mind paying a little extra for a masala dosa but not for what I ate there. Other food like the fish moilee smelt nice probably should have ordered that instead.
Delicious filling and generous mushroom risotto, excellent Chilean white wine, and a slice of cheesecake to die for! Wonderful service, cosy atmosphere and open fire, and live jazz every second Tuesday!
One of ....if not THE best lamb birianis I have ever eaten and fantastic Kerala fish curry too. I have never reviewed anything online before, but had to do it on this occasion.
Is this now Kerala Delicacies Totnes? 1 New Walk The Plains Totnes Devon TQ9 5HA If so, then it is an excellent venue for early evening dining in Totnes. We finished our Totnes travel writing day in Kerala Delicacies, formerly New Walk Brasserie in early June 2015. Food was first class, even for pescatarians, service fast and very helpful with special requests. Quiet and comfortable enough to continue our conversations, which is rare in restaurants and pubs now.
Absolutely disgusting take away service.Placed an online order on the 7th April 2018 at 7.25 for my daughter's 19th birthday treat dinner.Call back from restaurant confirmed order and was told an 8 o'clock delivery, great seeing as we live 5 mins walking distance from restaurant.8.30 came still no food.Called at 8.50 to ask whete our food was to be spoken to rudely by member of staff saying there was no order in that name even though we demanded we HAD ordered a take away. After 5 minutes of arguing someone in the background confirmed we had indeed ordered a big meal. They said we would get it straight away.Another 20 minutes later a taxi turned up with our order. It was cold, the packaging soggy with grease,1 poppadum broken into tiny pieces, the naans cold and like rubber and a tub of white sauce that smelt and tasted of sick supposed to be raita and no tikka masala.I phoned and was again spoken to rudely by a male member of staff.I was so upset my daughter's birthday was ruined.Shes a full time mummy and this was her treat. Will never even consider wasting our hard earned cash on such disgraceful service and repulsive food again.
Amazing food. Excellent service. Don't be put off by the empty house : Totnes has yet to discover what a gem there is here
Comfortable with good service and a wider and more interesting menu than many Indian restaurants with a number of fish dishes
