I've never been to a charity shop that was so ungrateful for receiving bags of donations!! For a couple of weeks I had noticed a sign in the window desperately asking for donations, so I thought, out of all the charity shops in stourport I'll drop them there. The second I walked in with my donations, a staff member who I can only assume is the manager? immediately approached me tutting and rolling her eyes, talking under her breath whilst huffing and puffing "oh great, I've got no where to store these. Leave them there. It's been so mad today and I'm running out of room". At no point did she say 'thanks' ... nothing. She then proceeded to interrogate me on what's in the bag to which I replied "a bit of everything really", which she responded rolling her eyes "can you simplify what you mean? A bit of everything could mean anything". I just feel she was really rude and somewhat intimidating. Basically I came out regretting donating 4 big bags of things there which is really sad and disheartening as I adore the charity's values, when I could have donated them to another charity shop where they'd be grateful for the donations.
Really disappointed to read that my experiences at this charity shop are not unique. Have donated here for a couple of years with no issue but the last two 'attempts' have been horrendous. The first occasion I was told that some of what I was donating was not acceptable a couple of brand new books and unless I rifled through the 3 large bags I was donating to get them out then she wouldn't take them. Today's experience was to be met by rolling of eyes and being told that I would have to come back tomorrow as they had no room of all the charity shops in Stourport, this is one of the most organised!. Needless to say I'll take my donations to a shop that is more welcoming to the very thing that keeps them going. I'm just sorry that this great charity now won't be benefitting because it has volunteers that dont seem to grasp what a charity shop actually is!
Great shop, lovely staff, great prices and great atmosphere. Great place to grab a bargain :
