This is a shared complex with 2 other venues, one either side. One is a bingo place with loud music & disco lights the other is a gig venue. Staff are constantly moving between the 2 venues either side with music bleeding in from both venues either side. Liked the bar itself, it has an old feel about it but essentially it's a poor combo . You know you're in a multi functional venue & not in Katy's bar as a single entity! Staff friendly enough but it's trying to be something it's not.
Just ok, a member of bar staff kept turning up the music whilst another kept turning back down. Twice asked for a drink and got what the barmaid wanted to serve me.
A warm cozy place for pints and usually some decent music playing.
Nice to see the old relics are still there. The gateway to good times.
I can't give it 4.5 out of 5, unfortunately. 9 times out of 10 the service was great in here. I just happened to find the 1% that wasn't. All in all, we had a great night
Music too pound, bled over from another room, way too much bass, unable to hold proper conversation, drinks severely overpriced.
Good bar, well stocked, nice staff, but awful acoustic music at ear piercing volume, basically mooted all conversation between friends. For a laugh we asked the other patrons, who started dwindling as "band" came on, all thought it was unnecessary noise.
Honestly should be better, but it lacks heart and the staff lack attention. They’re more interested in prepping the venue and selling tickets than serving or chat. I honestly think Katy’s should be given some focus that is independent of the limelight complex, it has potential to do better midweek.
The place isn't great during the day time which isn't noticeable during the day. Would strongly recommend a refurbishment as weatherspoons is nicer.
As usual.. indifferent staff..not unfriendly or particularly friendly. Heres your beer now where's my money attitude. I suppose most city bars are similar. nothing special. While at a gig there a while back I found the door staff unprofessional but that unfortunately seems to be the case with most poorly trained door staff. I had to go out for some fresh air due to overcrowding and heat.bim mildly asthmatic.. I was then refused rentry even with my ticket..wristband and id. At 52 years old I'm not really given to being a trouble maker so I expect some poor chap just wanted to assert his authority. Bless... LOL..
