Just the Tonic Comedy Club is a commendable destination for comedy enthusiasts seeking an enjoyable night out in the heart of the city. While the location on Broad Street offers vibrant energy, it does pose challenges, including limited parking options and a busy thoroughfare that may impact accessibility. The venue itself is thoughtfully designed, with effective lighting and a well-structured stage that enhances the performances. The lineup of comedians we experienced was impressive, showcasing a range of talent that kept the audience engaged and entertained throughout the evening. Additionally, the availability of a private bar provided convenience, allowing guests to enjoy drinks without disrupting the flow of the show. However, there are notable areas for improvement. The seating arrangement was less than ideal, with chairs that were uncomfortable and positioned closely together, which hindered relaxation and comfort during the performances. This aspect of the venue could benefit from reconsideration to enhance the overall guest experience. Despite these seating challenges, the quality of the performances and the inviting atmosphere make Just the Tonic Comedy Club a venue I would consider revisiting. With some adjustments to the seating configuration, this comedy club has the potential to elevate its overall appeal. For those in search of an evening filled with laughter, Just the Tonic is a worthwhile option, keeping in mind the seating limitations.
I had a fabulous evening at Just the Tonic's comedy evening. I didn't really know what to expect and booked the evening last minute. Great event with a good crowd and some fantastic comedians. I would definitely go again. Good venue and atmosphere. Only little niggle- I was driving and the alcohol free beers were a bit on the hefty side at nearly seven quid. Next time I'll know and leave the car at home :
Decent club situated on the main entertainment strip. Spacious inside for the comedy night, some pretty good acts too. Soft drinks reasonably priced alcoholic ones, well it's central Birmingham so as expected. Staff all seemed friendly and nice, would've stayed for the club night too after if we didn't have to get back.
3 very good act's, so all good there, my fault with the place itself was no ales on pull and limited bottles of beer. It's still cold in there as many people had coats on all night. I don't think they have any heating on at all as after the show they turn it into a nightclub. It exit into the roses nightclub which is also a icebox, its freezing . You enter through roses door, so don't look for 'just the tonic' as you won't find it.
Great night sat in school rows, sat in a dark fridge with cheap shower curtains. Thankfully, no teabagging in the aisles either and topped off by a technicolour cardi. IYKYK
On the whole, just the tonic was an excellent experience. The first two acts were fantastic - funny, original and pushed boundaries, but in a way that harmed nobody and benefited everyone. It's a real shame that they then invited Alistair Williams to the stage. He is an unoriginal populist, pedalling hatred towards minority groups. He copies the Franky Boyle/Ricky Gervais style from the early 2000s, which is now unfunny, outdated, and frankly cringe-worthy. A sour ending of an otherwise fantastic experience. We left feeling sorry for the host, as he had to introduce this man as though he endorsed his vile opinions, but I would be very surprised if he did.
Honestly, one of the worst experiences I have ever paid for. Firstly, we were promised a "table", but when we arrived, not only was there no table but all there was a make shift stage and just rows or shoddy looking seats packed closely together. To top it off, when one of my friends jokingly went near the "stage", the technician began to hurl abuse to my friend in front of the miniscule audience. After my friend tried shouting that he was sat down he was removed from the venue with no form of reprimand to the technician. All he had to do was ask, politly not to go near the stage but instead in his infinite wisdom thought shouting abuse at people who are paying to be there. Obviously, myself and my friends unanimously decided that abusive behaviour from staff is unacceptable and decided to take our night elsewhere and with that, half the audience left the shoddy makeshift stage. Safe to say, we will not be wasting our time with this venue again. In regards to the actual acts, you'll have to ask the ten members of the audience that remained. Who knows maybe they were ok...
Show started earlier than advertised. Chairs stacked out close together and couldn't see over people infront. No tables to put drinks on. Drinks ridiculous price! £25 for 4 bottles of becks!!! No lager on tap or pitchers available. Compare was good but other acts was awful & not funny. Turns into night club after and had to leave as it was full of what seemed to be under age kids and felt very out of place. Sadly won't be returning
You get a better comedy experience at the Glee Club as the venue is better suited to comedy shows
Brilliant night, me and my partner thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Starting off we were lucky to find the venue, unaware it was in Rosie’s night club but luckily walking past my partner looked in and said he’d recognised the wall paper from the pictures which was lucky! Went in was a little early so was lucky to get some really good seats. Air con was on too high and I found it was way too cold to take my coat off. Drinks were really over priced for the amount you receive. No other complaints, the host was great, possibly even funnier than the acts themselves, but we really enjoyed all 3 comedians, would definitely recommend!
