Awful service. After travelling all day in awful snow and my 5 year old decided to stop in. We went to the ‘Please wait to be seated’ sign. And we waited... and I mean waited! We were stared at by 3 staff members who didn’t speak or offer the seat us. So I walked through to find myself a table to be asked to go back and wait to be seated. Politely I did this.... another wait!! We were then asked if we have booked, which we hadn’t, then sighed at and told a table would need to be made up. Once at the table it took around half an hour to order food. Which is a while with a hungry child. Good came, wasn’t great but we were hungry so happy. 45 minutes for the table to be cleared. 15 minutes later we had to request desserts. Not offered. Once finished we requested the bill which took another 10 minutes to arrive. I would not venture here unless you have time to waste!

Really nice, went on the off chance that we could get a table having not booked for Mothers day. Welcomed us with a table by the bar with great service, nice food and a good pint. Thanks!

Book on line, good food, nice surroundings best when they do a deal. Friendly service, they accommodated us , 11 in party at very short notice, after a family funeral 2 days before Xmas 17. Recommend

Haven't been to the John Milne for a while, but thought we'd give it another try. The car park was fairly quiet - we've seen it much busier and got a table. We were told there were no tables and no room in the bar area, there was a half hour wait for food and an hour wait for a table. (We hadn't booked). We left and, in the car, booked a table for 6.30pm (time we booked it - 6.20pm). We could've chosen any time from 6.30 onward as there was availability for the rest of the evening had we booked online. We have eaten at the John Milne many times and had many celebrations there and if there were no tables in the restaurant we have always been directed to the bar. Not on this occasion, we were actively told it was full. Perhaps the John Milne doesn't accept walk ins anymore. If so, please let your customers know. We cancelled the booking and went elsewhere.

92nd birthday party for my father-In-law. Staff accommodating and friendly, food good, relaxed atmosphere.
