My mother and I went in the Cheadle store looking for a new bed. After looking around where the beds were for about 5 minutes or so we couldn't see any staff available to help on the floor. Then we noticed there was a member of staff a lady with short dark hair, middle aged at the furniture end of where the beds were located who clearly saw us looking around and but completely ignored our presence and didn't bother to ask if we needed any help. The customer service isn't as good as it used to be. We ended up buying online after seeing what we liked in store.

Ordered a dishwasher and larder fridge in Nov 2017. Requested an installation and removal of existing units included in order. One month later they arrived and as one connection to washer appeared wet they would not risk going ahead with installation. For some stupid reason they didn’t leave the new units (already fully paid for). I then replanned a delivery only for January and waited. I was given a date and previous day I get a text to confirm time slot to 8:00-10:00am. Brilliant. This time I get my own plumber and electrician to arrive in advance and remove existing units both still fully working but needing updating. Units were removed and kitchen readied for new units. 10:00am passed as did 1pm. Then I get a call to say that the delivery would no longer go ahead as they misplaced lost both units. Already paid for in full. £840 approx so no small order. I had by now been to Recycle with my old units and disposed of them and now no units to install. Both plumber and electrician had to be paid for wasted half days each £120. After a lot of calls visits and chasing I managed to just get a new fridge delivered. I spent in excess of 10hrs over 2 months on phone and in store trying to get a refund for the unit they could no longer supply. I was given the run around on every call waiting in excess of 40mins each time trying to resolve and they always had some new excuse. Today I got refunded £449 for unit not supplied. No offer to compensate for all the inconvenience or any attempt to reimburse my costs due to them misplacing my units. To date I have spent in excess of £25/30k in John Lewis. I have spent my last penny there. I will not spend another penny in any of their stores. They are all words and no substance. They are the worst now for customer service I have ever experienced. Really sad but true. Take your business elsewhere.

Wanted to buy a pushchair 2 weeks ago, but there were no staff at 5pm on a Saturday as everyone had gone home.. Next day we had to go back and pre-order the pushchair. We've been promised to get one reserved as soon as it's back in store and that someone would give us a call in 5 days when the order is ready to pick up. The pushchair has been available online for 10 days now, yet, nobody has contacted us. Such a terrible customer care...

A large John Lewis with the usual good service and lovely products. It also has a big seasonal goods department. It has a cafe which is fairly reasonable and has good service. If you have a John Lewis card you can get special rewards in the cafe. There's a big car park next to it.

Bought an expensive 4K TV which unfortunately didn't live up to expectations. I contacted John Lewis who collected it and delivered a replacement despite the fact that I had already recycled all the packaging from the first TV. Fantastic service. Thanks folks!
