Absolutely awful experience.n1. Tried to purchase a wardrobe on line but it wouldn’t allow me to add the assembled option of £90. So I went 40 miles to store and another 40 home, so I could complete the correct purchase.n2. First wardrobe arrived and was damaged so left with clothes all over bed whilst awaiting new order.n3. Second wardrobe arrived, had to ask for assembled crew to put shoe covers on, minimal interaction, told me completed and I would need to wipe down the wardrobe to clean it and then left. Within five minutes, I realised the assembly was dreadful wonky doors, scraping on one side and a great gap on the otter side and there was damage to the side panel and left door. I tried to call them back but they didn’t answer their phone.n3. Raised concern to John Lewis, they arranged for two men to come to try to fix and compensate but on a day I had said I wasn’t available. Called and cancelled and rearranged but then my plans changed and I happened to be in. The team arrived anyway fortunate for me but communication really poor. They couldn’t fix the poor fit and left.n4. John Lewis called and offered £50 discount. I advised I’d paid £500 for the wardrobe but wouldn’t pay £50 if it was on eBay etc. John Lewis agreed to collect the old one and replace.n5. Arrived today with new wardrobe but couldn’t progress as they had not been told to collect the old one. They negotiated that a”travelling team” would come later this afternoon to remove old wardrobe and build the replacement. Based on that, I agreed to accept delivery of the new wardrobe which now sits in my hall and kitchen, effectively blocking fire exits.n6. John Lewis have now just called to advise they have no record of anyone coming today, they cannot get anyone to answer the phones in the warehouse, and I’m stuck with blocked fire exits and clothing all over bed and defunct wardrobe until some time next week. Asked to speak to a senior manager and told they would only say the same thing to me.n7. Eventually negotiated someone attending Saturday but I need to stay in all day as they cannot give a time slot. That’s a fourth day lost to John Lewis.nnI drove throughout the night last night to get home in time for this poor quality service, got to my bed at 4am.nnFingers crossed no fires this weekend, and no falls negotiating the packages in the hall and kitchen.
Excellent trip to get a few Christmas items in and then a decent coffee and cake in the cafe.
Linda and Amy in the Cheadle womenswear department were an absolute credit to the store. We needed to make an exchange but the items were unavailable in store, so they kindly ordered them for us. Not only this but the prices had gone up in the meantime, so they kindly adjusted them too. Nothing was too much trouble and they served us with a smile the whole time. Thank you both for being so caring and for helping us out! Please pass this on to them as we didn’t have time to visit customer services on our way out.
If you are looking for a new TV and feel a bit baffled at all the choice then head to John Lewis Cheadle as the help from two of their team today was amazing. I didn't catch the name of one, but Daniel, is a young guy who works for Sony TV, and he so deserves some recognition. Daniel is professional, personable, polite, articulate, patient, passionate and extremely knowledgeable about TVs.nAs a nurse im not tech savvy, but I do recognise when someone really does have amazing people skills. Daniel spent a long time helping me understand all about the various differences between all sorts of size and specs of TVs, he helped by sharing different examples of sound and vision, and the connection Sony has with film production more broadly. He kindly shared about the quality of build , screen speakers , the naturalness of picture, the pixels, I could go on... never blinked an eye when I must have asked him a 100 questios, and the same thing twice - Young people today don't often get enough praise, so Daniels manager if you read this, then please don't loose sight of what great potential this young man has.nAs soon as I measure the space I will be heading back to buy my TV. Daniel if you are reading then thanks a million!
I went in to buy a shark cordless today and Cris and Dyson representative had told me the v8 would be better. The Shark person didnt seem to agree but didn't say anything. As it cost more i went to do some research on my own and it turns out the shark was indeed better. This is absolutely ridiculous! They both had lied to my face and in front of the shark person who allowed it to. I have worked in sales and this is exactly how you destroy a business. This is not what john lewis stands. The customer service they had provided was just beyond awful. Bravo for the shark person to staying quiet as it ruins an image of both brands. The management of the store needs to train their staff more. I will never be speaking to another brand representative ever.
