They want you to apply for jobs and go to the job fairs but don't have the facilities to print out your CV. You have to go find yourself a place to do that. No thanks I'm not going to the fair. One the most broke jobcentres GREEEEEEDY
You get to see who you need to see for spots and stuff, but it's a bit ill-thought out when you wanna talk about private stuff with the person but then you have other people glaring at you as they're waiting their turn and actually listening to your "private" conversation. I have to admit, I do NOT appreciate other people's hostile body language and attitude when I go in there and am supposed to feel at ease whereas now, it does sometimes feel like you've been walked into the wrong place, just from the way people look at you. I live on benefits which I can't help. And more people know about this than they really should. Mentally it's a 3 star in my head for all the help I get in there but poor seating ideas to sit right across the hall from where you are at your appt is awkward at best.
The one star is because of the difficulty I had trying to get through to somebody. Had a right nightmare trying to speak to somebody over the phone. I was referred by automated message on to three different numbers and originally ended up being given the number I first called. I gave up in the end. Will have to visit in person. It seems to be the only way. I hope I can give a higher rating when I go there in person.
I went there with a positive attitude but sadly quickly turned. I work full time and bring my daughter up just need help with childcare. Not all the staff but most are bred for the job. Need to respect people and learn some humanity. No wonder decent people dont bother. Horrible place with a lot of fat lazy staff
When you enter you're greeted by a rude glorified doorman, I explained our situation 3 times to which his reply was you can't come in without an appointment, then he turned away from me to stare off into space, 2 security guards then moved towards me as I asked him a different question while he totally ignored me. What an awful experience for my son, who has just left college, he only wanted to claim some money to help with travel to job interviews. Also why does it cost £2 an hr for the parking?
I've read the negative reviews but I haven't experienced anything but friendly and helpful staff, they answer any questions you have. I've felt motivated due to the regular meetings and homework. It requires work on your own behalf, you can't just expect money for no effort.
The system itself is flawed everywhere. Firstly it takes at least 30 minutes for me to gain contact with an advisor via phone sometimes an hour which then wastes my phone credit therefore I cannot call companies to apply for jobs. Secondly the processes are too slow and a lot of information is lost in translation. There needs to be job centres which deal with everything internally so problems can be resolved quicker and not heirachacly. Many people have illnesses or issues which prevent them from being organised or being able to hold a lengthy conversation without stress.... Start from scratch and focus the core values arou8nd compassion and sympathy for others so we can genuinely be able to help people get into the work place etc.
for some reason, whenever i look for jobs on the job center website every single job posted is thru an agency, why cant i get the company details, etc from the job center plus website, is job center plus subsidised by the government or by private recruitment companies. what the heck is going on. i cant even get anyone to answer the job center fone to ask that simple question, why does job center plus even exist if every damn job is thru an agency,
I have worked my whole life, unfortuatley I have recently had to sign on to JSA. I found Gillian to be extremley rude, unhelpfull and condescending. I left the job centre extremley distressed after our meeting.
Awfull!!!! Mind you a few advisors are very nice and seem to understand and help when they are allowed too. Goverment are more intersted in stats than the unemployed!!!!
