This is an honest if indirect review of the way my wife was treated today when her claim for job seekers allowance was dealt with by Jobcentre Plus or whichever department internally deals with such claims. Needless to say her claim was rejected due to the strict rules that need to be adhered to when asking The State to help a family out financially. I can accept that, believe me I really can, but what I refuse to accept is that my wife became tearful as a direct result of the manner in which she was spoken to. I have to give people bad news frequently in my job and there are correct ways of delivering something the recipient would prefer not to hear. Empathy and sympathy are clearly not words familiar to the person who spoke to my wife. Turn the tables and think about how you would like to be spoken to and act or speak accordingly. Apply the rules by all means but apply them with a little understanding and compassion.

Double Standards keep you waiting for over an hour but if you don't turn up they STOP your money so HOW IS THAT FAIR ? DONT EVEN WANT TO GIVE ONE STAR

Because I had the best work coach who gave me support, great advice and who was empathic yet not a push over. He may think I have forgotten him but I haven't. My 6 mths probation period is up on 5th of May and I will definitely be popping in to thank him. Love the security guys and the meet & greet lady they are very helpful to.
