An awful place not they care because their heads are up their backsides due to their sheer ignorance & arrogance. I have been told repeatedly a case manager will be contact but nothing has happened. They set these deadlines for a case manager to contact but they follow on their promises. There is a sanction culture amongst the staff to penalise claimants in order to save state funds. The staff give me impression of dead-end types who have been working here far too long & have been completely brainwashed by their mantra.
Review was Weaponized incompetence leading to harrasment to my nephew, who had to make 6 trips to JCP office 4 miles away because they were incapable of reading the evidence he gave, did not ask for all or correct evidence, and kept asking for evidence already given. Inferred he should stop claiming, and paying rent as I am his aunt and would not kick him out. Yes, Sarah at Basildon actually told him that!I What would happen if you stopped paying rent! Would your aunt rent to someone else? Well, he would have to claim more rent if he lived elsewhere Sarah! Iam a pensioner aged 72. I do not. have enough income to also provide for a 51 year old man and pay him an allowance! Nil points or stars. And I will be making a formal complaint. Legislation is that you cannot claim housing benefit if your landlord is a a parent, sibling, or sibling in law. Aunts, uncles and granparents are specifically not included! We checked when he asked to move in with me as he could no longer afford his council flat, with £12.00 a week bedroom tax and £22 a week hot water and heating being taken by council from his Job seekers allowance, He still had to pay CT and electricity and water. and buy food and clothes etc. Not possible. Lovely Sarah also asked him if his aunt would accept £400 a month, also If I would rent the room out if he left. Is she on commission do you think? My nephew has mental helath issues and panic attacks, he has had 3 operations in last few years, an exploded appendix left him with a severe internal infection that led to a double strangulated hernia due to vomiiting because of the exploded appendix. He is now talking about buying a tent and a sleeping bag and living on the streets, although I have told him that I will not allow that to happen.. Thank you lovely Sarah. You have exceeded your purview of a review and gone well beyond the bounds of proffesionalism and decency with someone with mental health and depression issues.. congratulations.
Absolutely awful. Case manager is from here and is for some reason allowed to ignore me for over a month when I am requesting payments. It's not even an isolated case, and has happened several times.
Great staff here! professional John work quick good communication, very happy to back here from Grays job centre.
If I could give this place Zero stars I would. I live in East London but apparently my case worker is based in Basildon. I have been trying to get an appointment at my local Job Centre in order to get a sanction removed from my Universal Credit claim. But I have been completely ignored for the last 14 weeks since it was imposed. No income for 3 and a half months. How on earth do they imagine we are able to survive like this. These people are overpaid and cruel, I hope they find themselves on benefits sometime and some nasty individual has fun tormenting them like they have tormented me. What is wrong with these people? Just do your job and stop abusing people who have no choice but to claim benefits. you are disgusting.
