Not sure why I am the first to review this place but it is awesome. While the better known places had long waits and higher prices, I walked right in here. Custom dry pot combo was one of the best I’ve ever had.
Ordered a grilled fish in chili oil and the dry hotpot for 7 people on a Friday night. The restaurant was almost full but thankfully we got a table. The food was nice! The grilled fish is crispy and more like fried than grilled but it tasted good. We ordered beef, dried tofu skin, mushroom & veggies for the dried hotpot and it was tasty too! Loved it.
After a busy day we decided to try one of China Towns restaurants. Jinli is a very modern Chinese looking restaurant. The menu looked very appetising and you’re welcomed very nicely by the front of house staff. There are plenty of options to order from their mobile ordering system which allows you to also pay on on your phone so no need to ask for the bill at the end. The food was very delicious as expected with each element being flavourful and unique in their own ways. You have the the more common options on the menu which you’d expect to see at Chinese restaurants. However, they have their Jinli Special dishes which are for 2 or more people at different set prices, which I recommend for you to try. My one issue with the menu is that they charge a very steep price for their drinks. Up to £3.20 for juices and £3.50+ for sodas or any other drinks. For me that’s just way too except for a small glass and it doesn’t help that they have an automatic service charge on top of that. In the end the meal price is substantially higher than you except after you choose your drink and get the service charge total. I was not a fan of that at all because you really have to savour every sip of your drink until you finish your meal. In the end I would definitely recommend this restaurant for their good service, tasty food with large portion sizes. I would come again to try more of the menu.
the dry pot tasted good.chose pork belly, sweet potato vermicelli, Chinese leaves and dried tofu skin as toppings but one of the staffs we dropped the dishes and it was shattered right behind of me, some food splattered on my bag. they offered 20% discount but didn’t really apologize properly.
Have you tried dry hotpot before I love hotpot during winter but usually eat with soup. This is the first time trying dry hotpot @jinli_chinatown_restaurant and it’s really amazing WHAT I GOT Dry hotpot Sliced pork belly with garlic sauce Sliced pork with vegetables in Sichuan style Fried lamb with cumin Stir fried shredded pork with sweet and chilli sauce. There are over 40 different ingredients you can chose to build your dry hotpot. Also you can choose the hot level. I chose little one which was flavourful and delicious Other than dry hotpot, they also serve a range of Sichuan dish. Among all, I love sliced pork belly with garlic sauce. The pork belly was sliced to paper thin and dressed with garlic chilli sauce. Yummy @jinli_chinatown_restaurant also has another store @jinliuk in Chinatown. If you love Sichuan food, you will defo love Jinli
Food 7/10, service 8/10. One of the famous restaurants in Chinatown London. However, it becomes tasteless at some dishes than before including both Jin Li. Could be have a try and I think still can someone better with same budget level around this area. £30-50 per, ‍ 10-20mins.
Don’t ask for spicy food if you can’t handle it The plate of peppercorn and fried chicken on the left…tasty but super spicy! I asked for sweet and sour prawns and it was delicious… Food came quick which I appreciate and the service was outstanding
I'm quite a fan of Sichuan food and I have to say, while the food they served was tasty, it is very easy to go blind-folded and find a restaurant with better food and much cheaper price. Went there last week and ordered dry hot pot. The price was really high. I ordered frog in the hot-pot and they missed it. Apart from that I find their service in general not so good.
Went there withe family.. We ordered sweet and sour soup no pork and vegetable tofu soup, stir fried veg and chicken dumplings for starters, then veg noodles, beef with vegs and boiled rice and scallops with ginger and green onions with egg fried rice. The hot and sour soup was really nice, needed a little more vinegar to my taste, the other soup was very mild in flavor, the dumplings were very good and the mixed vegs were as expected. The noodles lacked flavor, the beef and boiled rice were good and I really liked the scallops and ginger and the egg fried rice was excellent... Good overall, nothing special, the service was acceptable. Not a keeper but an OK to try.
Delicious Sichuan cuisine, perfect for those seeking an authentic taste of this region of China just off the main Chinatown area. When we visited for lunch the vast majority of diners were of Chinese extraction: always a good sign. Polite and efficient service. Go. Experience it!
