Story

JD’s Grill first opened its doors in August 2012 after business partners Dave and Justin decided to each leave their successful careers and open the restaurant. Having worked within the industry for the entirety of their careers they each brought with them the knowledge, drive and passion needed to start the successful business. Because of their drive and passion they have turned an unknown establishment into the record holding, award winning and popular Grill and Smokehouse that exists today.
From the beginning the ethos of the duo was to create a relaxed, family atmosphere that served high quality, locally sourced and delicious American BBQ food. Sourcing their ingredients locally is high priority as they firmly believe, not only does this give you the best quality, but it also supports the locally economy.

The Grill is famous for its quality but also for its huge portions! Portion sizes were such a topic point that soon after opening food challenges were introduced and The Goliath was born! Swiftly followed by the “Wings of FIRE” and Hot Dog Competitions are a regular occurrence. As the portions are so large it is only fitting that the restaurant currently holds the record for Britain’s Biggest Burger, weighing in at a whopping 25lbs!

Most recently the Grill won Plymouth City and Waterfronts award for Best Family Restaurant. This was a particularly momentous achievement, especially as they won this prestigious award a mere two years after opening. Both Dave and Justin each have young families and so it was always so important to them to create a family friendly environment that did not compromise on quality.
So where do they go from here? JD’s is constantly changing and updating, the pair listen carefully to their staff and customer alike on what they would like to see on the menu and in the restaurant. Recently they expanded the restaurant to open “The Shack” to accommodate more customers and also have a private area for large group bookings. After the success of the restaurant the two have plans to expand the business so keep an eye out, they may just pop up near to you.

If I could rate a 0 I would have. DO NOT order online from these crooks. I placed an order but never received it. JD Sports informed me that there is nothing that they can do. Absolutely appalling service. I will NEVER shop with these crooks again.
Came in today to buy some new trainers, found the ones I wanted and asked the manager I believe if I could get them in my size.... he asked another member of staff to get them from the stores.... I waited 10 mins before asking again..... I got told they wouldn't be long.... waited another 5 mins and then to see the woman who was spouse to getting my trainers serving someone else! Won't be shopping here again! Worse customer service
Really annoyed and disappointed, my son ordered trainers and has been waiting for them to be delivered, day 5 still saying delays. So we ring, again waiting patiently on hold to get through and be told "they've been lost" and now sold out!!! So now I have to wait for his money to come back to us, 3-5 days. Let's face it probably 5!! So he can go into a store and buy another pair. What would of happened if we didn't call. How do trainers end up in a delivery truck & get lost? Bye jd!!
I went in to the main store in Exeter and wandered around their impressive displays, found a trainer I liked and looked around. One member of staff was helping people, one was at the till and 3 were moving things around. I approached all 3 of them and all said they could not help me - I had to wait for the one that was officially allowed to help people try on shoes. Clearly this was beyond them. Luckily the display trainer I liked was the right size so i tried it on and it fitted fine. So I went home and bought it on line...3 to 5 days delivery...9 days later, still waiting! Sports Direct may not have the swanky stores but all their staff are attentive, they have a wider range if not all the latest stuff are cheaper and even their on line deliveries are on time! First and last time for JD Sports for me. An Update 10th March - now 13 days after the order placed - still no Trainers and JD Sports telling me I can't cancel the order. in the meantime my son has ordered and had delivered similar trainers from Sports Direct!. Appalling service by JD Sports - avoid if you can.
I was checking for my son shoes and the curve lady who is working in there is not so good at her job , as a store assistant I don’t think she is doing it well . I ask her if she can help me and she answered “i have someone to entertain already” I am behind her she didn’t even look carefully and talk to me nicely.
In and out within minutes. New what I wanted, size not in stock anywhere that I looked. The wife said go to JD. Low and behold, not in stock in store but being delivered tomorrow from JD online. Thankyou. Stay safe, take care. Marcus.
Well when I was queueing to pay for the items I had chosen to purchase, I went to the next available counter to pay. I was then spoken to with a very harsh and rude voice from one of the shop assistants behind the counter. She appeared to be doing nothing what so ever apart from getting in the way of the other shop assistants. The way she spoke was incredibly rude saying "I had pushed in the queue" and said "to go and queue". I had argued that I had been waiting but was then told I would not be served until I queued. I then had to go to the back again and wait to be served. Anyway the long story short is summed up as, JD cares as much about there customers as they do on the politeness of the shop assistants.
I waited in line seriously. When I heard the staff call me, I went up to the counter but there was no space. When I saw that there was an empty seat to pay, the staff looked at me with disapproving eyes and said I talked to the staff next door. Even though I explained that I was already in line, the staff still showed a nasty attitude when completing the payment. What a bad experience during the Christmas season.
Shame on the higher ups for only stocking up to size 11 in all man's shoes, in a big place like Plymouth you think they'd want to cater to the range of the masses. Saving grace was some really lovely servers who tried their hardest to help considering the complete lack of availability.
Had a very bad experience today with them. Gave the cashier a £50 note to buy a £32 shirt, and not only she scribbled and scanned my note with the “magic” pen & laser like 5 to 6 times over without detecting it was a counterfeit, she proceeded to call her store manager and proceeded to communicate at full volume whether the note was counterfeit in front of other customers and myself. This is like a big insult in public. Just a private apology from the store manager is just inadequate.
