Welcome to James Porter & Son Jewellers, an independent family run business in the Argyll Arcade Glasgow now in its fifth generation.

Established in 1858, we were recently named one of the 25 oldest family businesses in the country, and has been in the same location since it opened!

Absolutely FIRST CLASS service from everybody I dealt with and spoke with during my time buying a Studio Underd0g. A pleasure to deal with fellow watch nerds/enthusiasts! Many, MANY thanks

Not at all impressed.  Purchased a watch for my son's 18th birthday online for store pick up, we went to store had a quick look at the watch I mean why wouldn't I trust them? and headed home.  Later it dawned on me that it was in a generic Porter branded box and not a Bering box so I got it out for another look.  Well then, take a look at the photo's, sticky residue from price sticker on the back, scraped paint on the back of the strap clip, smudged glass and of course no Bering box so no ancillary items either.  I'm sure if it had been a 5 grand Rolex and not a watch worth just £179 then more care would have been taken but that's my opinion and Allan from James Porter & Son was very apologetic.  However it has spoiled what was an exciting time buying for a sons landmark age and we had planned on spending a significant amount of money for my other sons 21st birthday watch but that won't be happening now and we certainly won't be back.  For the record, by their own admission James Porter & Son only carry one of each watch so what you get will be the watch from the window and if it has no original box then be warned because they won't order one in it seems, you have to wonder do they lose the Rolex boxes, who knows?  My advice if you are thinking about going to James Porter & Son is to very very carefully inspect whatever watch they hand over before leaving the shop as you may not get the complete package.  The 2 stars are because Allan offered to personally help us procure another watch but the buzz was gone and we can only be thankful that we never presented it to our son and been mortified at the outcome.

Delighted with a Christmas jewellery purchase from a friendly team. Excellent selection with many unique items you won't find in the many other retailers in the Argyle Arcade.

I dealt with Simon over a few weeks while buying a watch. He was responsive to communications and a pleasure to deal with. I'm by no means local to the store, but it was a pleasurable transaction and I have no hesitation in recommending this Simon and James Porter.

I purchased a new Maurice lacroix watch today from David at James Porter & Son in Glasgow. Absolutely 1st class service, really nice people and very attentive, very trusting, I had 3 watches out along with different straps, I took my time and made my choice along with another strap colour. No pressure at all to buy. Honestly really great guys and they know about watches, In terms of quality of service whilst in the shop its got to be 10/10. David who served me is a great guy and if I wanted another watch I'd go back and buy from him. If you want a new watch go speak to these guys, honestly they are the best.  Ian MacDonald

I came in on Saturday with my Fiancé to pick my engagement ring. We were served by Laura , Who was Lovely, she couldn’t have been more helpful. We found the Ring I wanted and we even got it sized and with us on the same day!, which is fantastic. Thanks once again and a special thanks to Laura for making my special purchase go smoothly.

Consistently Superb - A Wonderful Business.  I am a multiple-repeat customer of James Porter & Son, specifically their watch department. They offer a great range of very interesting watch brands that stand out from the usual brands stocked by high street jewellers.  I cannot recommend purchasing through them highly enough. Their customer service is impeccable. I have purchased over the phone, via the website and also through direct messages on their social media channels. Each transaction has been flawless, very quickly dispatched and delivered next day. Every watch ordered comes pre-sized to fit straight from the box and is always set to the right time and date so you can simply pop it on the wrist and go - a really significant little extra touch.  Allan and Simon are extremely knowledgable, friendly and most of all trustworthy. Whether you are spending £30 or £3000 - I trust them implicitly.  The fact I live in Southern England and prefer to buy all my watches online from James Porter & Son in Glasgow is testament to how highly I rate this business. Shopping with James Porter & Son is a genuine 5-star experience.

Excellent service, staff were very helpful and were happy to answer any questions I had! I was shown a wonderful selection of rings and picked one I am totally in love with! Will definitely be returning for our wedding bands. Thank you again to all the ladies who helped me!

I would definitely recommend this store! I wanted to order a gift card for my mum and wasn't sure if this is something I could do as I live abroad but I emailed the store and got a quick response back from Claire. She was able to sort it out for me super quickly. I truly appreciated the excellent communication and first class service.
