My disabled niece and I were travelling from Inverurie Station to Aberdeen and were treated very badly. I was told that there was no disabled access, and although I had requested and it had been confirmed. The person in the office was not happy about assisting us and advised we should have used Kintore Station as Inverurie was not suitable for disabled people. We struggled upstairs, over a walkway, downstairs. A passenger asked my why we had not used the disabled access for platform 2. We had been advised, by the staff member that there was no access suitable for disabled people. When I asked the LNER staff member why he had taken us up all those stairs, he said oh I forgot about that access. My niece and I were treated disgracefully. I will now always check National Railways Site regarding accessibility access. We could have simply walked down a path, my niece using her walking aid and I could have wheeled our case.nIf there was an option I would have gave no stars at all. The worse Station we have used.
The ticket office is very part time.nnShelter is locked when ticket office closed.nnOnly one self service ticket machine at the opposite end of the station.nnVery limited seating and lack of shelter on platform 2.nnNO LIFTS TO OTHER PLATFORM. Very hostile to people with mobility issues.
The traditional station buildings remain at Inverurie. The station is walking distance to the centre of Inverurie. There is good parking and the platform is very long. There is a waiting room and it is nicely maintained it is really old style. I visited in May and there were some nice spring flowers on display on the platform. There is also a coffee shop which is part of the station builings but it was closed at the time of my visit.
Ticket office shut at 13.35.!! Your timetable says 13.50.. ! Very disappointing , considering I got there in plenty of time. This means another journey..
Whilst waiting for the 8.45 Inverurie to Inverness train, I went to the only toilet in the waiting room. The toilet seat was covered in urine, there was urine on the floor and the toilet hadn't been flushed. Surely the toilet should be regularly checked for cleanliness? The star given is for the clean waiting room.
