Stumbled across this last Friday (12/01)looking for lunch as Newark was cold wet and uninviting! Warm and friendly welcome from staff, REAL open fire, menu looked decent and reasonably priced. I chose a burger (stacked high) and my wife had home made steak amd Ale pie. Both meals came with hand cut/fried chips and were fresh, tasty and well cooked. Decent portions and not too long to wait after ordering. Would have liked to sit near fire but don't like the high rise tables and chairs. Well kept pint of Harvest Pale. Would definitely come again if in this neck of the woods.

Very pleasant staff and service today and the quality of the meat in the carvery was extremely good and all very well cooked. No complaints!

Always have great food and very friendly staff It is above average pub food. But it is pub food. Very good at what they do and plenty of choice.

Good food great pub. My only quibble is that the meal wasn't much for the high price. If I pay high price I expect a good size meal. I would return but for drinks only.
