Order the sizzler!! Well worth it and you won't be disappointed :-D Food good and staff very friendly and welcoming. I would recommend if you're in the area and looking for authentic Indian food.
I ordered a take away of chicken Madras, rice, side dish, Poppadoms and beer while waiting. With 30% off for collection it came to £25. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food good. Recommended.
We came here on our visit to Bournemouth in September, it’s pricey but… the food was WOW. It was the best Indian restaurant I’ve ever been to! honesty it was mouthwatering, I’ve never had Indian food as good as this. If your visiting Bournemouth defiantly try this restaurant, you will be amazed.
In search of an Indian food restro, came across this place and realised it’s the same buzzing place we noticed while staying in a hotel across street. We booked our table for dinner for the good Friday dinner thankfully as it got very crowded and would have been otherwise difficult to get table here. We ordered Masala papadam to start with. It was not the way I’ve had before fried/roasted papad topped with diced onion tomatoes coriander and some salt pepper and chaat masala The masala papad came as the roasted papad with some chutneys and pickles. It was good but not what we expected. The other version of basic papadum I felt was better as it was fried version Ordered mains directly - Vindaloo vegetable and garlic naan. It was spicy as mentioned but delicious. Other half had Prawns biryani, which was also spicy but again delicious. Overall a good experience.
One of the worse indian restaurant ..I ever went to! I called them up 3 times before they keep on getting hang up just to book a table, got told "okay fine come" i Arrived at 8.45 didn't get served till 9.25 didn't get the starter till 9.50, took the rest of the order while we were having the starter, main course didn't come till 10.25, we almost miss our 11.05 Yellow bus aswell, the starter mint sauce was reused from somebody else fought I wouldn't notice, the headscarf women was useless as she didn't understand english and hardly to explain anything! Old guy was running like headless chicken and the food he got wasn't worth the money and food was cold.. wouldn't recommend!! Keep on getting told Sorry short of staff well then you should of told us before we sat down on the table, if you told us then would of went else where. If your travelling to Bournemouth for holiday or family day out
Food was amazing, tasty & just the right amount for us. Waiters were rather busy & sometimes took a little time to get to us but that was because the restaurant was full. When they did come to us they were very helpful & attentive. Heartily recommend.Food: 5/5
Great Indian food. Kind and nice staff.Food: 4/5
The food here is absolutely class. A real compliment to indian cuisine! If you are in the Bournemouth area and feel peckish after going down to see the sights, this is THE SPOT!!! The staff here are especially friendly and helpful, they will do anything to ensure that you have the best of experiences. Recently has also been refurbished. They also do the best desserts ive seen in any indian place. Really cannot recommend this place higher!
I was underwhelmed by the overall experience at Indian Ocean. The reviews I read beforehand seemed to point to what should have been the best Indian restaurant in Bournemouth. Being someone that loves Indian food, grew up on it, loves to make it and understands good vs great, I wouldn't rate this any where near the best I've had in the UK. It came across very much as an average curry house. Prices - The prices are definitely up there with the best Indian restaurants in London, but are not justified for what they put out. It is the first Indian restaurant that I saw charging for chutneys served with poppadums, that too 90p. Most places do this for free. Quality - The meat in my biriyani was at times tender but occasionally dry and though. Clearly the tikka had been cooked previously, and some time in advance of my ever placing my order. The restaurant was 1/3 full at best with some takeaway traffic, but I would expect better. Quantity - When I ordered paneer tikka as an appetizer and the plate came half covered with lettuce and tomatoes, it was off to a bad start. The marinade on the paneer was distinctly average, more a chilli heat as opposed to aromatics from spices. The 6 small cubes of paneer tikka were not justifying the price tag. Definitely not meeting basic expectations. Service - Decent, but nothing over and above. Lastly, when asking for dessert, the head on the floor there said they had nothing but ice creams. Of all the choice India offers for desserts, being offered nothing but ice creams was the end of my experience.
Good Indian restaurant, excellent food and service
