HUIS [House in Flemish] is a new Belgian Bar and Kitchen in Southsea.

Story

HUIS [BELGIAN BAR + KITCHEN]

A independent bar in Southsea, Portsmouth, bringing Belgian beer and food culture together. Our beer range is extensive and ever changing with over 60 beers on offer. Our draughts include our own exclusive HUIS wheat, pilsner and blonde beers.

Eating at HUIS, we are the ideal lunch and dinner venue. We have full à la carte options with a dedicated fresh mussels menu, traditional Belgian dishes cooked in beer, and more including weekly specials. For lighter paletes we offer menu options from £5.95.

The décor is based around a 1960s living room with modernist features, and creates a welcoming atmosphere whether you’re taking a coffee or quick lunch with us, making us your local or are looking for a late night venue to enjoy good beer and food with your friends.

We are open until 2am Friday and Saturday, midnight Sunday to Thursday. The kitchen is open from midday until 10pm daily.

An amazing place to hang out in and taste some of the worlds best beer. The food is amazing too. Can’t wait to return, absolutely awesome! Friendly staff keep the whole establishment absolutely pristine and welcoming. For me, it’s a beer drinkers paradise. 5 stars +Food: 5/5
Went in for a few beers. Excellent range. Knowledgeable bar staff helped us out with our choices. Quite busy so sat at the bar on stools to begin with but then relocated to a table once some of the diners left. The food looked good although we weren't there to eat. Maybe next time.Service: 5/5
The pork belly in this place is to die for! The price and quality of the food cannot be beaten. Not to mention the wide selection of beers they have to offer. My favourite being the delirium red. There aren’t many seats and it is always busy so make sure you book. The staff always look after us can’t wait for our next visit!

The best meal out I’d had all year ! I had the steak and Dauphinoise potatoes - cooked to perfection and the flavours were incredible ! Peppercorn sauce to die for. I normally eat her at lunchtimes and had a super time so decided to celebrate son's birthday with Belgium beer and mussels. Food was fabulous and the beer delicious. Sadly the service was so slow we were asked to vacate our table as our alloted 2 hours were up. We were relocated to a sofa and two stools which wasn't good for us. This was while we were still waiting 30 mins for a waffle desert. I'm assuming there was a shortage of staff last night. Rather a disappointment.
Can’t believe I’ve been a student here for 3 years and only have discovered this place on the day of my graduation. I don’t usually do reviews but never have I seen my family all be in agreement that everything was spot on. The portion sizes, the friendliness of the staff and the quality of the food you would most definitely be comparable to top restaurants in Belgium/brussles. Yes it’s slightly pricey but you definitely get what you pay for. Only draw back was how long the food took but there was 5 of us and everything came out fresh and hot so we can completely sympathise why it took some time. Thank you for brining my journey in Portsmouth to a tasty end. We will definitely be back soon hopefully Tot ziens!

Came here this afternoon with my husband and son and what an awesome choice! Authentic Belgian food and drink in a very cosy relaxed atmosphere, with really friendly and efficient staff. Food is amazing and very filling no tiny portions here and they have an extensive drinks menu which has absolutely something for everyone, I highly recommend the Delirium Red beer! Too full up to try desert but will do that another day
