This banking cartel tried their hardest to destroy my business ...... let me explain. I was in a partnership with a guy who unfortunately saw me for the naive grafter I was and ended up dumping me with £100K of debt, all secured against my house, not his house since his houses had no equity. To be totally transparent and fair when the two 'managers' from HSBC took me up into their upstairs office minus my business partner who had bailed at that point I asked them what they had planned for my business and they were very honest in the fact that they were going to increase the high interest on the debt yearly and ultimately end up owning my house which I had put years worth of effort into developing. I went away and formulated a plan which would extricate me from this death-contract. 10 years later and I'd paid off every penny of the debt, my house is my own with the mortgage being fully paid off and now I'm a free man. I am never going to deal with HSBC again and after learning that the HSBC bank funded the slave trade and the opium wars I don't know why anyone else would ever deal with them either.
Utterly appaling customer handling. So apparently HSBC bank Hexham feels entitled to interrogate you in a separate room like police would do with a suspect, using intimidating tactics about your spending intent if you want to withdraw more than £1000 from your account and refuse to do the payout if you don't disclose what you intend to do with your own money?? I had a right go at them yesterday and had to threaten to call the police, BBC, Hexham Courant and broadcast live to social media before they gave up. Who the flamingo do they think they are to even ask. It's MY money and I don't owe them any explanation as to what I intend to do with it. It's outright patronising and I don't care how much they claim it's their policy... I asked them to show me where I signed that I agree to disclose my spending intentions to them. They could not produce relevant evidence but still insisted that's how they do it to protect me from fraud. Are they taking the pss here... how is there any fraud involved in withdrawing cash that I legally own and that sits in my bank account? Also, as an adult of 55 yrs I do not need their patronising protection efforts. I can do whatever I like with my cash... if I withdraw it to go outside and set light to it or bin it, my choice. None of their business. Now I told them to put a note on my account to not ever ask me again because I will never disclose to them what I do with my cash. I've been a customer with them for over 10 yrs and am known personally by the staff, still they kept repeatedly asking for id and my bank card to verify its me. In the end I won the argument and left the bank with my cash in my pocket, undisclosed spending purpose. This is starting to become a right big brother watch but I'm not having any of this bs.
Having looked online to see how to open a children's bank account I printed off the appropriate document, filled it in , took my son and his passport to the bank to open the account as it tells you to do on the HSBC website. When I get to the bank I'm told ' no ' you have to do it online or by telephone banking !! So I told her ' you can't do it online ' I've already checked . 'No' she says we're not doing 'face to face' because of Covid , once again I tell her you cannot do an online application it's simply a form to download and fill in . Once again I'm told it's either telephone banking or online banking . At this point I give up and leave . Having spoken to a call handler at HSBC telephone banking I'm told that I am correct , the bank clerk should have taken my form and scanned my sons passport as ID and processed the application for me . I think the staff in the bank need to learn what they are supposed to be doing instead of sending their customers of on a wild goose chase !!! Utterly useless !!!
Pretty pointless this branch being open at all, 4 hours a day and in that time they can't be bothered to do anything "bank" related due to "covid". Time to switch banks I feel.
Can't really use it if you work Mon-Fri 9 to 5 which is a bit of a problem for most people. Looks nice from behind the locked doors?
I was surprised at just how unhelpful they are prepared to be, needs a total rethink, worse than a waste of time going if you leave this branch upset
Hsbc is the worst bank to bank with there customer service team are rubbish and never treat me with respect after banking with hsbc since 2006 I am looking to close my account down in the new year as been treated so so badly as a customer
I'd give less if possible.
Good service.
