Great customer service - until something goes wrong!nFirstly, note that many of the 5* reviews are for the delivery drivers - definitely not the ‘after sales service’.nHaving spent thousands of pounds with HU over the years, we bought an expensive Italian dining set from our life savings, which we assumed would last us at least ten years.nThen, after a little over four years of very light usage and there are only two of us, the leather on the chairs started to split and bits peeled off.nOn contacting customer services who were very apologetic at first we received an offer of just £340 compensation, PLUS they wanted the chairs back.nThey would not budge on this and I couldn’t find any new chairs under £600 each that would match the table and other furniture items we have from the same range. So, I very reluctantly agreed to accept the money but requested that I keep the chairs so that they could be re-covered at a cost to us of £1200, and that they would match the rest of the suite. But no, this too was refused. Therefore to keep our chairs and have new upholstery - it will cost HU absolutely NOTHING.nI find this an absolutely abysmal response to longstanding and very loyal customers.nAlas no more. They know where they can stick their offer.
Store great, sofas ordered and delivered great. Delivery guys were marvellous and did you credit! However, the after sales service left a lot to be desired.nHaving been advised that the sofas had arrived at your store, we paid the outstanding balance of £3K+ only to be told that delivery would 9 days later. T&C say that after paying any outstanding balance you can chose your delivery date. We didn't have a choice, we were told. Asking if it could be brought forward we were told that someone would call discuss it. No one did. 3 calls later a member of the floor staff said it wouldn't be possible due to schedules and return of the £3k+ requested would mean rescheduling it again. After pointing out that Housing Units would have the balance for 9 days and we had no goods, she said it wasn't unusual in the industry. In fact she herself had been waiting longer for an item paid for from Argos. We would have expected that a store the quality of Housing Units would have better customer service than a nationwide chain.
My daughter and I had a marvelous experience at Housing units. My daughter had just moved house and was looking for a dining table for a small space. We were happily surprised to find one here and in the sale too. She also found other items from various departments also in the sale too.nnFrom the lovely man on the door to the staff in wickentree and the lovely girl on on rugs and the kitchen store staff. All so so friendly and helpful. I even bought myself a nest of tables and some fabulous frying pans, oh! and some drinking glasses - all in SALE!nnMy daughters table and crockery have not arrived yet so can't comment yet on this service.nnBut thanks for an enjoyable - almost day out.
Extremely disappointed & hurt by housing units lack of professionalism and customer care. Went sofa hunting for myself and my partners 1st home a few weeks ago and decided to have a quick browse of the clearance store but weren't expecting to find much within our price range 1st time buyers! You can imagine our shock when we found the perfect corner sofa for our home and although the higher end of our budget, just affordable. We deemed ourselves so lucky and after arriving home and decided this was definitely the sofa for us and got online to order it right away. Whilst ordering we discussed with a member of staff on the HU live chat to ensure that the sofa we saw on the shop floor in its entirety was the one we were purchasing, to which the staff member said yes. Even better- the sofa would arrive at our new home on our moving day and we were so happy.nnFast forward 1 week and we still hadn't had a call to arrange delivery... phoned up HU to be told that our order had been placed and money had been taken but unfortunately they had no sofa to give us? Right... but where did the sofa that we viewed on the shop floor go? Apparently they sold this sofa 5 days later to another customer because they hadn't seen/had lost our order. I was gutted. I'm quite heavily pregnant and was looking forward to our new sofa so much and after much back and forth with the manager, they assured us they had intercepted the sofas delivery to the new customers and were now delivering to us for our moving day and all was sorted. Thank god!nnOr so I thought. Today, one day before moving day I recieve a phone call to inform us that they HAVE actually sold the sofa from the shop floor and instead have kept one for us that has a whole missing piece and is no longer the full 5 piece we fell in love with. This is a massive deal breaker for us and we are so disappointed & disheartened that we no longer have a sofa for tomorrow and just the entire experience with HU. A complete waste of time and energy when I could have ordered another sofa weeks ago... these things take so long to arrive. Will be avoiding HU for foreseeable and informing everyone of my dissatisfaction towards this company.nnAttached are the sofa we wanted & the image we received today on what would be arriving.
Been to the shop today to look at garden furniture, found a great set and bought it, went to have a look around while we were there, also bought a new lamp from Joanne B in the lighting department, Joanne was so helpful with an online order we were waiting for, she checked the order and after a couple of phone calls she managed to find our order and came away with that item aswell. A great experience, well done.
