Amazing hotel in a lovely location, near to bus and railway station.nnSpacious, spotless, airy bedroom and bathroom, with everything you need and a nice pot of goodies. Very peaceful at night.nnTasty breakfast, loads of choice and the evening food, is the best that I've tasted. Never knew that Newlyn Pollack could be so delicious.nnAs for the staff, everyone that I met, was helpful, friendly, informative and took care of all the guests, going beyond the call of duty.nnBooked to return in June, as the hotel is so relaxing and I look forward to swimming in the pool, in warmer weather.
We stayed at this wonderful hotel for a few days. It’s just a short walk from the train station, making it easy to grab a taxi or bus if needed. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious, with a hot plate menu item that made waking up early even more worthwhile. My room was spacious and offered beautiful views of both the town and the sea. Overall, it was the best place to unwind in Penzance.
I booked a 3 night stay. I booked a specific room with panoramic views, upon arrival, we were taken to a ground floor room instead that was different to the room we booked. I showed the room we booked to the staff member and asked to stay there instead, however, when taken to that room there was a terrible damp and musty smell, we later understood they’d had problems with rainfall. The room we booked was at a higher price than other rooms, we asked for the difference between room price to be refunded, but we were told that all rooms are the same price - which wasn’t true on the website. We ended up with a very small room with stained carpets, which we payed a premium price for. Albeit the views were still lovely.nnPenzance Hotel offered us a deal when booking to add breakfast onto our room for no additional fee, as an incentive to book through the business. On the first day went into breakfast at 08:45 and there was very little food left. My partner ordered a full Cornish breakfast which promised bacon, sausage, mushroom, tomatoes and baked beans. He was served a plate with bacon, 2 eggs and 1 hash brown. Only when we complained about the lack of food on the plate, did a staff member go to the shops to get more food, which was served about half an hour later. The continental breakfast was also poor, with a selection of meats and cheeses promised, but only 1 type of meat and small cubes of cheese offered.nnFinally, the whole hotel had a serious damp issue and musty smell throughout; leaving our clothes smelling of damp during our stay.nnWe do not feel that the hotel met the requirements for a 4-star rating, with their low staffing level, poor food and poor communication regarding rooms.
Stayed in this hotel for our honeymoon 40 years ago! Maybe a name change, along with owners but still a great hotel with excellent customer service. The food was excellent at all meals, the locally sourced fish being a highlight. Staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, and nothing was too much trouble. Room may have been a little warm for me but that's a personal thing not a criticism of the hotel!
Nice hotel, with great views over the bay to St Michael's mount. Nice breakfast.
