Hotel Continental

About

An idyllic seaside hotel in the picturesque town of Whitstable. Stunning sunsets too, a glass of wine and a steaming bowl of mussels, watching the sun set.

Story

Welcome to the Hotel Continental.

Located on the seafront in the idyllic town of Whitstable in Kent, we are a 23 bedroom sea front hotel with 13 converted 150 year old Fisherman's Huts. All of which are available for short term lets. We pride ourselves on providing an extremely unique and personal stay for all our guests and aim to give them the best chance to explore the wonderful charm and character that Whitstable has to offer.

We are owned by the Whitstable Oyster Co. Our bar serves Beers and Ales produced by our own micro-brewery, the Whitstable Brewery, as well as oysters from our own oyster beds.

We also have a 40-seat restaurant serving a classic menu, with a modern twist. Our menu changes regularly and ranges from Pan Fried local Oysters to Roasted Seabass on a Seafood Risotto to Aberdeen Angus Fillet Steak served with triple cooked chips.

Very good place for a drink or meal. Lovely bright airey interior, right by the beach in Whitstable. Good selection of bar drinks including local beers. Quick efficient service. You can eat in the informal bar area or in the dedicated restaurant area.Good selection of food from snacks to hot meals. Dog friendly. Table seating or settees. Clean surroundings and good air. Enjoy. Never stayed in the hotel section so unable to comment on that.

Great location on beach front. Nice open lounge and bar area. Food was nice and breakfast provided as a buffet. Rooms were well equipped but feedback from a number of guests who were staying commented that the rooms were compact. Still a good hotel and somewhere I would stop again.

We stayed in the Fisherman Huts, all services supplied by the hotel, complete with a complimentary full breakfast for the following day. It was faultless, superb and the breakfast was second to none. We didn't sample the amenities at the hotel but if it is anything like the breakfast service, you can't go wrong. We only stayed one night and I reckon it would take a week to sample all the delights available for breakfast. I know I mention breakfast a lot but after all, it is a hotel and a good breakfast is not only the best meal of the day but it also sets you up for having a great day

Great location, really central and right on the seafront. I stayed with my parents and it is so nice to be able to stay in one room with them not have to book two rooms (as I am an only child). The family room was fantastic and gave us all privacy. The staff were very friendly welcoming and helpful. Can't wait to visit again

We had a two night stay here, just came back, and honestly it could not have been better. We ate at the Restaurant the first night, Thursday, and the guys doubling up on the Bar/Waiter duties could not have been more efficient, charming or helpful. We had pretty basic dishes - Steak and Fish and Chips - but they were done to a nicety. Oddly, I am guessing this was because the same very talented French Chefs were behind the Dinner as the two extremely accomplished French guys behind the superb Scrambled and Poached eggs - served up with style and dexterity - serving breakfast the next day. The lack of cuisine snobbery- these guys served scrambled eggs for Breakfast as if it was Caviar at Midnight - is just so deserving of the ultimate plaudits - That combination of style, Care *big kudos, too, to the lovely waitress who served us refills of coffee at breakfast too, on the first morning - and wished us the best on behalf of the Hotel , unasked * well, dammit - it really doesn't get any better than this- and Dog Friendly too :)
