The best that can be said is it looks good from the outside. Unfortunately we had to stay there. The first thing you notice on entering is the smell of damp permeating the building. Take you pitons to reach the first floor. The staircase is very steep and has narrow treads. The handrail not fit for purpose. It is positively dangerous even for the fit and agile. The room. Dark and superficially clean. I'm not fond of a clean sheet between me and a grubby duvet nor smelly pillows. The bathroom had hair in the bath plughole and dirty sink and toilet. Sheets, though clean, were stained as were the towels which also smelled musty. The bath is a reasonable size. Unfortunately there is very little hot water. I had to be up at 6.30 the first morning and enjoyed a warm bath. My wife and daughter were up at 8.30 and the water was cold. As it was the following morning. Breakfast is served in a musty smelling room. The bacon and tomatoes are fine the rest mediocre. Even the tea smelled musty. On booking, 6 weeks prior, we stated two of the party were gluten free to which we received the answer no problem. They were also contacted the day before we arrived. This was mentioned again and we were told that it was taken in to account. On arrival at breakfast I said I was one of the gluten free guests and was asked what was gluten free? We almost came home a night early but didn’t fancy a three hour slog up the motorway. I was going to ask for a partial refund of the exorbitant charge but my wife and daughter just wanted to leave as soon as possible.. Goodness knows how this place received three stars.

Stayed while visiting a wedding in area. Good location easy to find with small car park. Very friendly welcome and family atmosphere. Period style property. Rooms clean and we stayed in family room which had an adjoining room which was great. Would return again if in the area.
