This train station offers ample seating and shelter on both sides of the track, which is convenient. However, the staff's unhelpfulness on multiple occasions, coupled with the early closure of the help desk, leaves much to be desired in terms of customer service and assistance.
Complete chaos with regards to clearing the Football Fans after the game.nIt appeared to be like a good plan upon arriving, at the Station.nSeparate the opposing Fans, and have them board the Train from either end of the Platform.nFirst Train arrived, which didn't get filled,nas staff were holding people back.nWhich, by the time the next one came,nsome 30mins later, led to the people that had managed to get onto the Platform, to overcrowded Carriages, meaning the Train wouldn't move until a proportion of those whom managed to crowd onboard, had got back off.nnNot one agency took Control.nnNeither The Stewards, Rail Staff, nor Police!!n& that led to some understandable unpleasantness
Travelled from here to Manchester Deansgate, last week, on a week day. There is LOTS of parking, we have a Skoda Octavia long car and we felt very safe leaving it there on a working day morning.
As stations go, this one is a peach. No facilities, no toilet or cafe, no vending machine. The manned ticket office is often closed. If you too enjoy bleak, disrupted travel this is the perfect place to stand, alone, rocking gently while your cancelled train flashes up on the garish sign. Five stars.
Station is ok considering Northern rail is stuck in the 19th century.nnJust be warned if planning a night out in Manchester you will have to come back before the street lights are on.nnEventually the 21st century will arrive.
