Review is based on a visit for food and not a stay. Popped in for an evening meal here with a friend. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful right from the start. For starters had classic whitebait which was lovely, especially the dipping sauce that came with it. For main I ordered a chicken and bacon enchilada, only issue was it wasn't really an enchilada, basically a chicken and bacon in some sort of cream, in a wrap with cheese grilled on top, way too much cream and not a sniff of tomato anywhere, real shame. Thankfully dessert made up for it, a lovely sticky toffee pudding that was light, flavourful and not too sweet with a lovely custard. Shame about the enchilada as I'd been craving a proper one for days, and still craving it now. Worth a visit still.
Wow absolutely incredible food. We were a family of 5. We all absolutely loved our meals. Compliments to the chef thanks for looking after us today. The Sunday roast and the rib eye was literally melt in your mouth honestly up there with the BEST meals we’ve ever had
the room was really nice and comfortable. The staff are friendly and always available. I stayed here while walking the Offa Dyke Path and it was truly refreshing my short stay. I also ate for dinner and breakfast and I can only confirm my positive opinion. and thanks for the earplugs, they were helpful
The pub is very racist and anti-English, I went in with my family and asked if they were still serving food. The barman wiping a glass just looked at me for ages without saying a word, and eventually just shook his head, the pub was full of workmen and everyone went deadly quiet. After the embarrassment and humiliation of the encounter I decided to leave, A lovely old gentleman must have taken pity, grabbed my leg and kindly said the restaurant was at the bottom as we were walking out. He was a customer and treated us so much kinder than the barman who was just horrible for no reason. We only went the restaurant due to being so hungry. The staff in the restaurant itself were very accommodating and friendly and the food was lovely! It’s just a shame that the experience we had in the pub was disgraceful
Room was clean and comfortable. Bedroom was quite small, but very good bathroom.nStaff friendly, good food dinner and breakfast in the restaurant.nStayed whilst doing the Offas Dyke walk and would recommend as a stop over for that.
