We looked this up on Google and after reading several good reviews we decided this was going to be our evening meal. The staff were obliging and very friendly. We were both well pleased with the quality of the food, hot tasty and plentiful..My only little quibble being the plates were stone cold, not good to put hot food onto and the prawn crackers weren't very good. Would we recommend a visit, Yes we would and we would hesitate going back. Thank you Hong Kong Chop House
They have a very good selection of both authentic and westernised dishes, so no one can complain! Very delicious food and reasonably priced, with attentive and friendly staff. I can't wait to go back again!
I don’t normally say this but I truly enjoyed the food. As someone so used to eating Asian food since birth, I approve of this. Probably on my top list of Chinese restaurants in York now. Have already recommended it to friends, so that is a good sign. I shall definitely return! The only minor critic I have would be the incorrect spellings of some words in the menu and the siumai that could’ve been steamed slightly longer. Apart from that I think everything was lovely — great and good amount of food, not too expensive, clean, cosy interior design and atmosphere, attentive and polite staff. We also appreciate that some of the stuff in the menu are homemade noodles were wonderful! and that they use loose leaf tea instead of teabags. As big tea enthusiasts, this is something we really appreciate. We’ve been to other Chinese restaurants who use teabags only and that was a huge turn off. All kinds of people come here — groups, couples, singles; I think the place is just inviting and cosy that you don’t feel awkward and intimidated if you go there alone. Thank you for the lovely dining experience and I hope to come back again soon.
The Chinese restaurant was absolutely beautiful! We had the set buffet menu..everything was cooked lovely. The staff was friendly. The atmosphere could have been better, i.e. perhaps some music in the background. Overall great visit! Thank you
Long wait but great food. We were seated quickly but it was quite a while before we had our drink or food order taken. There were other tables that had been seated after the that had their order taken first. Once the order was taken it didn't take long at all for the food to arrive. The crispy beef was probably the best I've ever had. We also had the duck which I found fatty and chewy with lots of the skin and we had the Cantonese chicken in sweet and sour sauce with egg fried rice which was lovely. We asked for chopsticks which were given as the table is generally laid with knife and fork. I'm white English and think eating Chinese food with a knife and fork is sacrilege. I'm not sure about hygiene in this restaurant. It's definitely seen better days. The wall hangings were filthy with food near the tables and the toilets were not in great condition at all. I probably wouldn't eat here again as I'm not sure on the cleanliness.
My partner and I stumbled across this restaurant whilst visiting York and we were glad that we did. The food was incredible. I ordered a salt and chilli crispy chicken which was amazing, full of flavour. The egg fried rice that came with it was really good. Service was quick and waiting staff were attentive. The only thing that creeped me out was there was a male member of staff who didn't wear a uniform who I felt, based on how he was conversing with the waiting staff was manager or perhaps the owner. This person kept staring at me during my time there and it made me feel uncomfortable. I kept trying to get his attention for the bill and he ignored me and just stared. Other than that, it was a really great place to eat and would thoroughly recommend it.

Amazing restaurant, authentic Chinese food with cozy spaces fit for up to 7 people. The portion is good for couples or groups to enjoy and they are fast to come when you order. I would recommend ordering 2 rice dish, 1 vegetable dish and 1 meat dish for groups of 4-6 people. The staff is friendly, and although they won’t talk much, but they’re attentive and quick to respond. Will be my go to Chinese restaurant from now on.
