Came in to get an electric screwdriver I have seen online. Whilst staff were visible in the shop floor, some were casually waving, chatting to each others rather than paying attention to customers. The electric screwdrivers sections was quite messy and I was looking for a cordless one and couldn't find one as they were locked in. I reached out to one of the staff there and rather than showing me options, he pulled out the most expensive set at 40pounds from Bosch from the back. He said that this was the only one left. I was not convinced. At the till, I did a quick google search on homebase before forking out 40pounds and the store had a black and decker one for 20pounds. I asked for this to be brought and bought this one so his previous statement was a lie. I didn't need an extensive kit. Customer service wasn't great, lazy behaviour as a whole. I also sense that being a female, I was going to be mugged off with purchasing something more expensive which should not happen. I will definitely not come back and I will go to B&Q instead where they are much warmer and helpful.
What can I say about this store, nothing nice. I ordered a number of items online for click and collect 9 items in total. I only ordered items after checking the online stores stock check. Paid for the order with my debit card in advance. Waited a couple of hours then received a phone call from a very rude and abrupt staff member which proceeded as follows, This is homebase we ain't got most of your order in stock. She then reels off a list of 8 out of 9 items they don't have, then asked if I want a credit note. No you can cancel the order and credit my debit card with the full amount,was my reply. Oh if your sure we will send you an email then put the phone down. In fairness I receive the credit to my card the following day. They still only get one star through.
I came to this store with my dad as a child and remember how exciting it was. The pond with the fountain and the garden centre area that seemed to float over the pond. It was super busy and you could get anything and everything.nnFast forward to today and it’s a really sad shopping experience. Weak product selection and the whole place just feels like it’s been abandoned. The garden centre are I remembered is now just an empty space with some damaged / ex-display items randomly thrown in a corner.nnCome on Homebase, show this place some love, make it a place people want to come and spend money.
Really good selection of products here and some offers which was nice to see. Plants not in the best condition, looking underwatered and dry so ended up not buying much as intended.nnQueue was short and the staff member who served us was polite. Parking reasonable but it would be helpful if there were a few parent and child bays even far away from the entrance for space.
No wonder this branch is going down the pan. Rude inattentive staff, can barely get anyone to help, all standing around chatting to eachother, then told I’m being rude for asking for help, like I’m an inconvenience, a customer looking for help. turns out the guy i was speaking to was the branch manager, no wonder the place is a shambles, clearly badly run from the top down. Awful customer experience. I’ll go to B&Q next time.
