Really can't express how much the wonderful carers have helped keep mum & dad going in their own home. They have become such good friends to mum and know just how to manage dad with his Alzheimers. They are a wonderful team, who go the extra mile offer not only the physical support to allow them to cope at home, but most importantly for us the emotional support and friendship so vital to mum when we live so far away. Having the App to be able to see the carers comments gives real peace of mind and enable us to pick up on things that mum might not have mentioned, prescriptions running low etc and have staved off many a "crisis".
Home Instead Senior Care Mid Norfolk have provided support for my 93 year old father for the last 9 months and this has enabled him to remain in his own home. 3 Caregivers cover a weekly rota of 4 visits and so they quickly built up a rapport with my father. A range of Caregiving support is provided including companionship, light housekeeping and covering medical appointments. A particular useful aspect of the service is to be able to view a summary of each visit as it is completed through a mobile phone app. Management and scheduling are provided in an efficient but personal manner. Overall this service provides quality support for my father and is just what I need as someone who lives a long distance away.
We went to Home Instead Mid Norfolk on the recommendation of local Social Services. My mother had developed vascular dementia, was becoming anxious and needed help with everyday tasks. Within two weeks the first carer arrived who had Mum laughing within ten minutes. She was subsequently attended by two main carers plus occasional relief carers who were always the same ones. The team quickly got to know Mum, her habits, what she liked to do and eat and became like extended family to her. Her condition meant she never was able to learn their names or distinguish them properly but that made no difference to the carers. They treated Mum with respect, warmth and I can say love, always ready to give her a cuddle when she was distressed, always ready to hunt until found, the many things she hid and then proclaimed to be lost or stolen. They were always ready to go the extra mile even when it meant staying a few minutes after their finish time. Her main carers became friends to the family to, ready to reassure us and never too busy to discuss our difficulties with Mum. I cannot speak too highly of the manager Tom. Emergency emails to him always had a reply and action within hours even at weekends and on one occasion Boxing Day. Regular face to face reviews of the care plan resulted in immediate changes where necessary. I was able to access via computer the daily notes of the carers and again the scheduling and IT staff were very helpful with any problems there. Unfortunately my mother's condition deteriorated until residential care had to be considered. Even there one of her carers was instrumental in preparing Mum mentally for the move. I cannot speak too highly of Home Instead and would recommend them to anyone for care of their loved ones. Angela C
