Hi Simon/Jamie. I’m sorry for the one-star review. My only experience of your shop has been of you leaving three different one-star reviews of my wife’s business Emma Kay and Co in Ripponden. Since you have never had any dealings with my wife, this struck me as a dreadful way for a local business to behave, hence this one-star review. On reflection, though, I should have listened to Emma and ignored your reviews rather than responding in kind — or perhaps just approached you to ask you kindly to remove those unwarranted reviews. To be honest, I just felt protective of my wife’s hard work. She has been running that business for seven years and the only negative reviews she has had are yours. And when those reviews appear to have been left for no good reason, it feels particularly unfair. So that’s why I responded with a petty one-star review of my own. Not because you are “competition” — you are 45 minutes away from Ripponden and Emma doesn’t advertise outside of Calderdale — but because I thought what you had done was unprofessional and unfair. I would like to to delete this review. I am sure you wouldn’t want your customers seeing that you have resorted to leaving negative reviews for other companies because you see them as “competition”. Your customers will wonder why you don’t let the quality of your service/product speak for itself. I will delete this review as soon as you have done deleted the three (!) separate one-star reviews you have given Emma’s business (two on Facebook, one on Google). I am sure you agree that this would be a more sensible and respectful way of working rather than just trying to trash people’s reputation for no good reason. I hope you will delete those reviews and then of course I will do likewise. Thank you. Best regards and good luck for the future. Oliver Kay
