Such a hidden gem just set back from the main road in a gap between the buildings. It's quite compact, because there's alot of books in there. Many start from just 50p, and even the more expensive ones are simply a few pounds. All areas are different sections that are marked what's what. If you're lucky "Jerry " the cat may be about upstairs for a quick stroke. Great for a visit if you like books, you'll find a bargain in here !!
Is there a finer, funkier, funnier, bookstore in all of Yorkshire? Maybe all of the UK? I don’t think so. What topic are you looking for? Proprietor Barry, with his assistant Jerry the cat, will find it for you. Indeed, probably several books on topic. Barry estimates that he has over 14,000 books. Jerry says, "too many to count." Go in with an open mind and you’ll find many books of interest. The difficulty will be deciding which to buy. Don’t worry, the prices are so reasonable that you can take all you can carry.
I've only given 5 stars because I can't give more. This bookshop is an absolute gem. Unbelievable selection at unbeatable prices. Whatever subject you are interested in they have books on it. 2 floors of fiction and non-fiction. Lovely chap runs it, always friendly and helpful
We really enjoyed a visit to the book shop. Had a great conversation with the owner, Barry. Talked about "Last of the Summer wine" as well as other topics. He gave us a great deal on some books
Eclectic and full of books in piles and shelves haphazardly just like any good book shop should be. A good rummage for unexpected finds is what you'll find here. Excellent prices and almost giving them away. If you want new titles and an ordered and tidy shop this place isn't for you. But we book nuts love to find the unexpected so I loved this place
I love this place. It is a treasure trove on wonderful books. The owner is very helpful and friendly and always up for a chat.
Great little book shop, with book cramming every nook and cranny. Cats in residence but not a bad thing at all! A good selection, and very reasonably priced
I love this place. And I love the kind and eccentric owner, Barry, and his cat Jerry. Can find some gems in here if you’re willing to dig around.
The best book shop in the world. I send all my students here for the amazing selection of children's books only 50p! and go myself to buy all sorts - Victorian history, fantasy, crime - everything I could possibly want. The cats are lovely too. I've been coming here since I was a child and I never want to stop.
Brilliant independent bookshop, bargains galore, classics...you name it, "literature heaven".
