Absolutely brilliant holiday at this hotel. What lovely people that own it. It is a little tired and dated, but the food and service was excellent. Went with a coach party of 48 older people and could not fault a thing, especially the food. That on its own is worth 5 stars. Well done Steven and Dawn.
On listening to other guests I think we were actually rather lucky with the room we had although far from luxurious. It also turned out to be the most expensive for drinks with a number of pubs very close up to 50% cheaper. The good news was the food was excellent.Rooms: 3/5
I have never stayed here for the hotel however I have been to the bar on several occasions. It has a lovely calm atmosphere but with the live music can quickly be ramped up depending on who's playing. The whole thing is a pleasurable experience and I would recommend to anyone passing by.
Location in Shanklin Old Village is excellent. Food brilliant. Staff very friendly and helpful However. The decor is very tired and dated. The 'shower' was just an attachment on the bath which had no rail to hold it up. Furniture was fresh from the 1970's. And if you're more than 6' from the reception, there's no wi-fi...
Booked a Christmas dinner here and was very disappointed no welcome drink bearing in mind it was Christmas Day basic carvery although nice no waitress service so had to go to the bar to buy drinks staff grumpy all this for £100 wish I had gone to the sloop would have got better service and much cheaper meal and the same value
Had a great stay at this hotel food great plenty of it room very good and very helpful and pleasant staff especially man of all jobs Ben and barman Declan they made our holiday and just want to say a big thankyou xRooms: 4/5
The host and all the staff were wonderful, the food was gorgeous and the entrainment was brilliant. Thanks. Unfortunately my bed was very hard and uncomfortable and the shower very intermittent. TV didn't work very well with only half a dozen channels. Shanklin was a very pretty place. I would definitely go again.
Can't rate the rooms as we weren't staying. Stopped for evening meal. Seriously under staffed as we're most places in Shanklin Sadly it took 3 attempts to thoroughly cook a lamb shank. On the us side they were very apologetic offered us a free drink and pudding. Ps puddings were very nice.
Cant rate rooms as only stopped for a caravary. Food was lovely and served by a friendly chatty lady. Bar maid who came to our table was also exceptional and friendly and made us feel welcome. One bar man was dealing with a nose bleed and clearing our plates away was completely zoned out and obviously on some sort of come down. Asked him not to clear all the plates as children hadnt finished eating and had gone off to the loo but he cleared them anyway whilst sniffing and stemming the blood flow from his nose. The garden is a little forgotten about and needs a bit of tlc around the top area where the kids play area is. The toilets are questionable only one working and that was dirty. Ideal location and beautiful town.
Only ate at this hotel. Although they had signs out that they were short staffed, the service was good and food was delicious. Stunning location, worth a visit.Service: 4/5
