Great atmosphere and service. The starters are excellent, specially the oysters and the scallops. You can get picanha for main, such is a delicious cut for steak. Desserts are not their thing I’m afraid, had the apple dumplings and the pavlova, and they were not very good. The bar downstairs is pretty cool and trendy, quite selective, totally worth trying their cocktails.
Spacious restaurant in the heart of Soho. Bookings requiered. It's family friendly with different menus for kids, adults and vegetarians. Food wise, it's pretty good, dishes well presented and tasty. Cost wise it's in the middle up side. Overall recommend big you haven't tried it. They also have a bar and cocktail bar in the basement so should be a good option to have a drink or two when going out.
Came here for a pre theatre meal having checked it was on in advance, only to be told after being seated that it wasn't on over Christmas. Strike one. Starters arrived - the seafood soup was very tasty, as was the chilli squid - although the chillies were really fiery and the squid was a bit dry. Other that a spritz of lime there was no sauce or anything moist to dip in. Could have done with an aioli or lemon mayo on the side. Main courses, prawn burger was very tasty but chips were over-salted. No need to salt the chips when there is salt on the table, as there is no way back from oversalination. My partner found the cod very bland alas. Desserts, the apple pie and the marmalade sponges were both very tasty, but for both the custard could have been warmer. Ambience was decent, interesting decor that certainly draws the eye, especially a large Jackson Pollack style canvas on the far wall. Coatroom service was also a positive. Overall, not the worst experience but not the best either.
Always great experience. Friendly bartenders and surprisingly down to earth prices. But you don’t go there for the smiles and prices, you go there for an education in mixology. The bartenders are creative and more than eager to explain to you the intricacies of the cocktails or whatever new whisky or gin they have on offer. Go there for there to truly enjoy a special cocktail and hear someone who is passionate about making it. Stay for the music and New York speakeasy atmosphere.
Nice steak here for delicious taste. Definitely try the medium rare. Good atmosphere too. If u want to have desserts or alcohol, won’t let u down. Basement is another space for chilling with friends.
This is second Hix restaurant I have been to and I can say that they were both excellent! I went for pre theatre menu at a very reasonable price of £23. This included beautifully tender pieces of squid for the starter and perfectly cooked monkfish for the main course. What was the star of the show for me was the pudding, gooseberry pie with elderflower ice cream. Although the ice cream was one of the best things I have ever put in my mouth I still find nostalgic elements to the dishes served. The pastry on the pie was exactly like my grandmothers, I had discovered this before at the Tramshed where I had some minced pies that tasted like she had cooked them that day. The stuffing in the whole roast chicken reminds me of picking herbs in the garden for her as a child.
I dining in this restaurant with friends. The restaurant have a very beautiful and interesting decor. The food it's good and the service was just okay, the waiter was friendly and give some suggestions on the beginning. But was something that I didn't accept at all; a the end of our dining experience, I notice something on the floor, 3 mice just running around the restaurant, it's London and all we know it's full of mice... but when I called the waiter to show him, he told me that the day before they did a disinfestation because there were so many, Perfect, and after he told me "Don't looking at them but look at the table." This is just unacceptable. After this we paid and we left.
Really enjoyed the fish and chips, and also the black pudding starter. Service was a bit slow, but good food and a nice atmosphere.
Excellent meal that can start with a variety of fresh sea food and follow buy an excellent porterhouse and end by a delicious ice cream. All plates that I tried were perfectly cooked and presented. Wide selection of wines and alcoholic drinks as well as their own oyster beer not bad. Friendly and professional service. So if you are searching for an excellent meal in London Hix Soho would be one of the best. Reservations are required
Perfect place for a group gathering or business lunch. Service was excellent.
