Travelling with a friend, who’s family are long time locals, I contacted Hix to make a same day booking. The person who took the call was polite and helpful, booking us in for 9pm. For those that don’t know the area, this restaurant is in a prime position overlooking Lyme Bay - the views are stunning. We arrived slightly early and were shown to our table. We were offered water, which never made it to the table. We had to ask twice more and it eventually arrived after our starter. We had to ask for wine 3 times, bread twice, and request our order be taken. The real issue, was that we appeared not to have been assigned a waiter until half way through. Every time we asked for the above mentioned items, it was from a different waiter as they walked past. We were not rushing, nor being difficult. We simply weren’t looked after. Not once did they offer to refill our glasses with wine. The service is bad at this restaurant, and it is insulting to charge the prices they do, yet make customers feel so unwelcome. The atmosphere is awkward too - generated by certain staff members. They need to work more as a team, ensuring all clients are well looked after. Thankfully, the chef seems to be operating on a different level to the floor staff. The food was excellent. Delicious scallops, squid and the stew and fish fingers were great. This is the only reason I have scored this restaurant 2 stars, rather than 1 star. Will not be dining there again for sometime. Hopefully it will improve...but for the time being, fortunately there are other excellent options in this lovely seaside town.

Wonderful seafood restaurant. The location could not be better, the restaurant had a perfect view on the sea side, really stunning. The food is just amazing and the service was very good. I was impressed how they remembered who took what even if we were a lot of people. Good place

While I'm happy to pay alot for premium, this place is ridiculously overpriced. Top Michelin & London restaurants charge alot less for massively higher quality. Yes views great ( if they sit you at a good tables, which they didn't even though 3 were free, until we asked!) & food simple & tasty, but no other wow, no special feeling & Def no love!!! Some staff lovely, but some v grumpy!! Not good enough!!

A fine eatery. Not fussy and all the better for it. Simple ingredients, perfectly cooked with an interesting tweak. Peri peri mackerel with seaweed crushed pots. Yum.

Deep fried oysters were brilliant, as was the fish pie. Curry was very tasty with an unexpected bonus crispy onion bahji, but the huss was pretty limp. Never had huss before so not sure if it was a poor choice of fish or it was overcooked. The view from the front of the restaurant would be lovely on a sunny day! Overall, a tad on the pricey side but I'd definitely return
