It’s historic and characterful, but that’s about it. I’ve sat in 3 different stands now and two of them are third world seriously, Italian Serie D have better facilities and one of the was alright. But, when you look at the prices charged, and the scruffy state of the place, something isn’t quite right. Plenty of pubs and restaurants around the ground though, so that’s a positive. Don’t rely on Supertram to actually operate services for the football.
Decent traditional old school style stadium , some parts obviously in need of an upgrade , lick of paint / refurbishment, went here first time to watch Worksop Town play in the local Sheffield Cup final
Very aged stadium that looks like it's not changed in 50 years. Very big ground. But it was very worn out and unattractive. Lots of corrugated plastic and metal. Lots of history. Very eerie in the awayend knowing what happened in past. Took a moment to pay respects at the memorial. Stewards were decent to be honest. Flat atmosphere. Brilliant half time entertained getting dizzy people to take penalties!
My dad and son booked on to the stadium tour today and had an amazing time. This was mostly down to the tour guide, Paul, a lovely and knowledgeable man. He was constantly asking if anyone had any questions and making sure that everyone was ok. Paul is an asset to Sheffield Wednesday, and anyone partaking on a tour with him will have an amazing time. Thank you, Paul!
The ground is quite old. For most part of the game when the team was losing, the atmosphere was none existence from the home fans. Peaceful and friendly fans though. No issues at all with the supporters!! Food not so delicious at all. Stadium is quite old and could do with some investment to bring it up to date. However, I still found the place to be quite charming. Attended as a group and went into the ground around 45 minutes before kickoff. Approached by a steward and asked to present out tickets . The absent of any explanation for the stewards request did made me wonder what the issue was. Obviously I challenged the request and at which point he said something about making sure people are in their allocated seats. I hope to return one day, maybe for a more positive experience second time round.
Great experience to play on the pitch. Good facilities, nice ground.
Attended Hillsborough on a freezing cold evening mid week game, arrived with approx hour and a half prior to kick off, so didn't see much of surrounding suburb, although I understand most surrounding pubs are for home fans, apart from a working men's club which is approx twenty minute walk from the ground. Their are facilities inside the ground perimeter that serve hot and cold drinks, and food, but luckily we where at the front of the que, as the que became long and timely, luckily the weather was only frosty, but if wet wouldn't be pleasant. View in the ground was ok leg room ok.
Outdated stadium posts restrict viewing in some areas. In the top tier of the away fans area, the concourse is narrow. It's a nightmare getting to the toilets unless you are seated on the right side of the stand, assuming you are looking at the pitch. There are two kiosks serving food and drinks, and you have to get through these queues to reach the toilets. One of our supporters WBAdied at the game, there was a delay before medics got to him. Stewards didn't seem to know what to do.
Good old school ground, enjoyed it. Away end could do with an upgrade near impossible to get drink/food if in a decent following.
Very run down, needs some urgent work. Gangways very narrow, and quite scary in a large crowd, coffee cold, concourse tiny... can't help but think about the 97
