Just popped in for the Sunday Roast as it was recommended by a friend. Overall a really nice meal that was reasonably priced. The roast pork itself was lovely as was the chicken, only minor flaw was the potatoes were bit tough as was some of the veg...But, overall, we all left very happy people, full to the brim, especially after the chocolate fudge cakes we had for dessert. It was also noteable how friendly, polite and helpful the staff were. It is about 20 minute drive from where I live, but we would have no hesitation in going back..
Sunday lunch was very nice, would have liked the food a bit warmer but tasted good. Not huge amount of meat but plenty of veg. Nice atmosphere and staff friendly and attentive which is always good.
I have always wanted to visit this Inn since I was a little girl passing by with my parents in the car. 50 yrs later, I finally DID and wasn't disappointed. We stopped for lunch and we had a really lovely Baguette and Fries. The staff were brilliant, the decor VERY characterful at really added to the atmosphere, you should see the thickness of the walls. The only thing missing for me, was the old Yellow Stagecoach which used to stand outside. We met a very friendly & knowledgeable local who told us how the old stagecoach was damaged in a recent storm. Saying it's large wheels, it is to return, hopefully incorporated into a seat. Can't wait to go back and seeing everyone again. I recommend to all as a perfect Inn to visit. Well Done All!!!
I saw this lovely old pub on our way to our holiday apartment. We noticed the signage and decided to give it a try. The menu looked traditional pub food and non of this posh pretentious food that leaves you hungry. We were not disappointed. It is a very old pub with logs burning on the stoves. The menu is good with a decent selection of specials. The locals are all very friendly and the staff very attentive, friendly and helpful. The fruit juices were very high quality which is wonderful if you do not drink. The food was very good, we both had the pate starters. I had the steak pie which was very substantial and not to rich. My wife had the Salmon, this again was very generous and not over rich. The traditional apple crumble puddings were just brilliant. I understand after talking to the locals why this place is packed for Sunday lunch. They are serving great food at very reasonable prices. Well done. We will be back for another meal before the end of our break.
I was here for a two day group function, the whole of the staff couldn't have been better. The place is great, multiple open fires, plenty of space or quiet corners depending on your preference. They have a good selection of beers just as you might expect from a 'country pub'. The food though puts it on another level, don't necessarily think gastro-pub, think traditional and not so traditional pub food done to a very high standard. I personally had three meals over the two days and those with me had loads more, there were no complaints from anyone and the portion sizes were just enough on the generous side that you ended up feeling stuffed or leaving just enough that they knew it wasn't because it wasn't good, it was just too much! I'll definitely be going back!
We stopped on our way to visit family, it was very last minute but they squeezed us in which was brilliant. So good was it, that we called in on our way home, they kindly allowed us to stay overnight in our motorhome, which meant we could indulge a bit. The staff are great, oh and it's dog friendly too! Fantastic, worth more than 5 stars ::
Had a very tasting meal last night. It was very nice to have a well cooked meal. The staff was so polite and very helpful. Definitely we will go back for further visits
Excellent food and atmospheric bar area. Real fire put on for first time today by our table 3. Friendly and attentive staff and management. Thank you for making us feel welcome.
Amazing, such a beautiful pub, the staff were friendly and professional. Food piping hor and excellent quality. The Christmas decorations were so beautiful and tastfully done in keeping with its history. Would gladly go back again
Happened to drive past the place on a snowy Sunday, and thought we'd pop in for a bite to eat. Warm atmosphere, friendly staff and really good food... Can't complain at all
