Disappointed in £70 cake - see photos. I was very excited to gift my wife a cake for her birthday. Hermione was responsive, even after I had received my order, but the experience left me disappointed and compelled me to leave a review. To preface this, I’m not a baker and I have little/no experience baking and decorating cakes. 
Whilst I concede that I had asked for a plain cake with decoration, I feel that this interpretation took that instruction to the extreme and the finished quality did not meet my expectations and the price. The decorations were not thought out, poorly attached, and the use of cocktail sticks did not add to the look and feel I had hoped for. The back of the cake was bare. In addition, there was barely any filling or buttercream inside the cake. I immediately contacted Hermione and I was repeatedly told “no refund policy”, something never mentioned prior to purchase. I offered to return the cake, too embarrassed to present it to my wife as a birthday gift. Throughout multiple messages I was never offered a partial refund, an update to the decoration or any solution to my disappointment. I would encourage anyone looking to purchase, specifically a fondant cake, to view the photos of the cake I received as I didn’t feel the end result was worth £70 - and I feel others would agree!
Could not recommend Hermione enough! Every cake that we have ordered has been not only well priced and exceeded all expectations, but has tasted amazing!!! On top of this, she is responsive and thoroughly lovely to deal with. Highly highly recommend!
Hermione made a cake for a family event, and it was exactly what I was hoping for! She made an egg-free lemon sponge with four layers which easily served 40-50 people. She was very responsive and clear in all our communications and followed the image I sent to the letter, so it was exactly what I had envisaged. Would definitely recommend!
We used Hermione’s Cakes 3 times now and every time we were impressed. My son loved his cakes every time and everyone at the party did too. Thank you! Would highly recommend. Cakes are delicious and attention to detail is impeccable
Such a sad experience. I received a cake from this baker that my husband bought. He was so embarrassed when he gave me the cake... and I could immediately see why. Every year he buys me a fondant cake for my birthday with a simplistic, but thoughtful design as he’s a simple man, like many, not as good at explaining things, which is why he gives a basic idea and buys from a professional. This year was much different. This took simple to an elementary level, as an adult receiving a cake with only edible child-like graphics, a pink bow and really no thought or effort put into the design was really sad. I understand the words plain and simple - you can still make “plain" very beautiful, modern and lovely. This cake is none of these things and it’s really up to a professional baker to ask appropriate questions, think outside the box and make the customer happy. When my husband was offered no alternative or solution before he gave me the cake, which is very unprofessional, he was really heartbroken. On top of that, the cake was really missing any filling or icing, so not enjoyable. Unfortunately this experience left us both disappointed and we highly recommend looking elsewhere for a fondant cake in London to not have the same experience we did.
I ordered a vegan cake for my son's 3rd birthday,t'was amazing cake my son loved it.Perfect and tasted really delicious.the texture is perfect, not too sweet, i really like it too,everything about it was just perfect. I asked her a lot of instructions about the cake because of allergies safety of my son's friends ,and she did it well.she did not disappointed me.Thank you so much everyone loved it!
I cannot recommend Hermione's Cakes enough. Easy to order, lovely, friendly customer service combined with yummy cakes. I ordered a tray bake that was as good as my mum's and a choclate cake that was a work of art to look at and tasted even better!
Delicious brownies. My teenage daughter loved the stack instead of a cake! Presented really beautifully. Great communication from start to finish. Totally recommend Hermione and will use again!
Hermione made a fantastic custom train-themed rainbow cake, with all vegan ingredients for our son's birthday party. The cake was beautiful and everyone loved it. No photos to hand as we ate it all up super-quick!
Great service, Hermione is very approachable and always trying to provide the best options to fit the request. The cake turned out just as I imagined. Everyone loved it, in particular my son!
