A better dining experience you will not have! A combination of wonderful food, service and atmosphere deliver a truly great eating experience. Perfect for small groups or a romantic evening. Henry and Joe have created something that is truly fantastic and unrivalled in Newbury.

I don't know where to start! We had the warmest of welcomes from Joe who is the most attentive maître d'. He took time to explain the components of each dish, made recommendations for food and wine and  has an infectious enthusiasm that can't help but put you at ease. 

The setting is perfect. Intimate without being tiny and just the right number of tables for you to feel like you're really part of something special, without Joe being run ragged. The music choice was excellent and added to the relaxed atmosphere without dominating it, too.  

The food was like nothing I've ever tasted before. I discovered I have a great palate - I could taste the smallest of flavours and the dishes were so well balanced. The kitchen is open in one corner of the restaurant and we had a great view of Henry and Ben doing what they do best! The service wasn't rushed so there was no sense of panic as you might see in some professional kitchens.

I opted for the pork cheek to start (melt in the mouth with a lovely celeriac carbonara) and my partner went for the crayfish and lobster ravioli (the crab bisque was delicious). We both opted for the beef fillet (served rare) and it was like cutting through butter - the potato risotto was a revelation! For dessert I had the caramel brulee (made with cocoa nibs) which was divine and my partner opted for the salted chocolate tart. If we could have licked our plates we would have!

This is fine dining but without being pretentious. The prices are honest and you get a real feeling that it's worth every penny. We are already working out when we can go back - we're so pleased to have found you, Henry & Joe's!

Phenomenal food, easy atmosphere, lovely service, fair pricing. A gem in Newbury! Keep up the excellent work Joe, Henry and Ben!

Excellent independent restaurant with enthusiastic front of house and real quality cooking. Sunday lunch roast was excellent and they did a splendid job catering for some of our party with strict dietary requirements.
