This is one of the most Homley and lovely salons I have ever been to, I think this is due to how long it has been there and how comfortable and warm the atmosphere is made by the staff and customers, they did an amazing job on my hair, I’m not very good at explaining and my hairdresser Linda knew exactly what I wanted even with my bad explanation, I will definitely be coming back

Either "Hellerslea hair" cut my daughter's hair or "Upper Cut" did as they are both refusing to take responsibility and calling me a liar. They share the same building, floor and facilities, so to me they are one and the same. This is denied, even though I have been told by a person that works for Hellerslea that Richard rents his part "Upper Cut", but is owned by Hellerslea. There is a separate part for men and women. We asked to used the ladies department for a girls wash, cut and dry. It was a Saturday and my partner took my daughter into Hellerslea and approached the front counter. He asked for a wash, cut and dry as my daughter had an ear infection and didn't want to risk her ear getting wet in the shower. It was a walk in appointment. They weren't busy at all with only 1 person in there, which should have been a warning sign. They were celebrating being open 50 year's, leaving me confused. They may have taken on this one member of staff that is completely incompetent, but should check qualifications and their level of hairdressing. If they cannot cut a straight line, how are they able to do anything else? Or did they use my daughter as a test dummy? Her hair was washed, by a lady with dark red dyed coloured hair, who is middle aged, in Hellerslea. The cut was started in Hellerslea by the same lady but she said that the chair was too low so took her into the Barbers as they had a booster seat to use. My partner sat in the waiting area for a time and popped to the bank to take out money for the cut. She came out with it in a plait so he was unable to see the cut. It cost £20.50. When it was discovered to be an awful, slanted and uneven cut, by at least 3 inches different from one side to the other, I rang the Hairdressers. Upper Cut answered, the ladies part is closed on a Monday. They share the same number as well as facilities. He demanded I bring her in. I can't as I am disabled and my partner works away on the mainland for long periods. I asked to email photos as I can't make the stairs and he refused, I had to take her in myself, which is impossible in a wheelchair, and he refused to refund. He wanted to correct it. The state of her hair was horrendous so there was no way I would let them ever touch her hair again. It was waist length and she came out shoulder length. In order to correct it a further 4 inches had to come off her hair it was that bad. I did ask him if the hairdresser was qualified as it was such a state. I have left reviews but they keep being removed. I asked for an apology and was refused and they both demanded I apologise. If they continue to lie and slander me and say I am liable for "telling the truth", I will be taking them to small claims court to get my money back and demand compensation on top, which I am within my rights to do as I have consulted both trading standards and a solicitor. What a disgraceful salon and barbers to ruin a child's hair, hide it, lie about it and also try and get a wheelchair bound mother to go up 30 steps to not even be given the money back, then shout liable. I said I would attempt to get her taken in on the Saturday. After all the awful, aggressive comments made by both Linda and Richard I decided not to. She went on to get friends and colleagues to attack me and posted on her own Facebook profile about me "Nick Linda Holbrook" which she set to public trying to "shame" me shouting I was a liar. She even went on to like comments made that I had done it myself and my daughter hadn't even been to the Hairdressers at all. If only photos could be posted on here of my daughter's hair and what they have both been saying. It is ruined as it takes forever to grow. Richards reply "I spoke to you on the phone and said bring your daughter back to the shop to verify that cut was actully done in our shop you refused and went else wherenobusieness is every going to agree to a refund over thephone with out seeing the client,a random picture could be anyone?so i cant say that cut was not done in our shop" Avoid like the plague!

Good service in the gents area, turn up no appointment needed. At weekends they sometimes have 2-3 Staff on to minimise any wait time. If you do have to wait there is a TV in the seating area for about 5 people. Staff have always been friendly in all the years I've been going.
