Booked 30 East drive for my sisters birthday. We were all very excited to go as we've been looking into this house for a while. Unfortunately our experience was ruined by another lady that booked on and had previously been 7 times as she said. I mentioned this was booked for my sisters birthday to everyone and not that she should get any special treatment but as someone who's been 7 times I think she should of had more consideration for people who haven't experienced it as she didn't shut up once, had to be the first person to try to séances and quite literally be centre of attention. Around the table in the kitchen we all had our finger on a Glow up plate asking the spirit questions, my sister managed to get a question in and the woman said to her one at a time! Well if she shut up and gave someone a chance to speak maybe it would be. Then laugable Frank says come on you four you haven't asked one thing as if we didn't want too i left the table at this point as I was very frustrated. Thought it was just us who felt this way until we left and a woman we met there expressed the same feelings as us about her. We had 2 hour journey home and we didn't speak to eachother once about our experience other than that woman because it was that bad!! My ears were ringing and we appreciated the quiet ride home. Over all the activity we experience with the spirits was very good, but unfortunately we can't leave a good review as our night was completely ruined. We would like to come back but we dread to think this lady would be on our booking again as she's been 7 times so that's a worry. I dont want my review putting anyone of booking as we would love to come back and hope my review would change how they make guests feels as being in the house was an experience alone. But as aside note bring ear plugs incase your unfortunate enough to meet this woman on your booking. EDIT - I've just had a phonecall from Alex regarding my review apologising for my experience. I do understand that visitors personalities are out of his control but he was kind enough to offer a discount for a revisit. I'm very happy with this outcome and how he's handled it and I'm very appreciative how quickly this was resolved.
Really good staff and location at Shrewsbury Prison. Definitely loved the glass on the table and all of our group were shocked by the amount of interaction we were getting. We did end up leaving early because we’d had a 5 hour drive to get there and it was already 130 am, but there was over an hours break where you were left to your own devices. The only thing is as people were moving around in their groups you’d often get interrupted or frankly couldn’t get enough quiet to hear anything. Think a shorter period of time in between would have been good as alot of people were using the free time not to connect to any spirits or anything at all but to mess around, which really does impact those who are there for not only fun but to maybe connect with any spirits in the building. Adding onto this even the time where staff were guiding you was filled with noise and shouting. I’m unsure wether we just had a particularly bad group but it was very frustrating asking questions out loud listening for noises and people would be making crass comments or shouting something obscure. This was prominent across the whole night and really was the over arching theme of our experience sadly. We feel the staff could maybe see this behaviour and not say anything, and no of course don’t tell people off or anything but it was obvious that half of those there were just wanting to take the piss and the other half had had their night tainted.
Great night at Sulgrave manor. Our team lead Mel was fantastic, a really good time. Highly recommend. We’ve used other companies like this before; and Haunted Happenings are by far the best. My one suggestion is to check the group size of a haunting. The smaller the better!
Been to a fair few paranormal investigations now. I have to say Haunted Happenings keeps going down hill. The whole night was really poorly organised. The hosts as people were great, but didn’t make a good team for the venue. Contradicting themselves with the history of the venue and just talking or walking around. We kept getting interrupted, one ending a session when we’d just said we were getting someone, only to make us pack up, tell us we had free time and then walk off! We realised after a few minutes they weren’t coming back! Most weren’t very good at drumming up the energy, seemed like it was too much hassle. Could have done with some more watch and wait with less talking. Definitely prefer lesser known companies where the evening is more personal. This feels like a money making exercice. Unfortunately just too much to do, with too many people in not enough time. On a positive note, Shaun was really good. His knowledge of the venue was excellent, he was funny and attentive. I think if the groups were more personal, we could have had a really great evening.
Newsham Park Orphanage - August 2024. We’ve done Newsham 6 times over the last few years with Haunted Happenings and sadly it’s slowly gotten worse, with this year being the least enjoyable yet. The event itself is quite pricey, but we didn’t mind paying it the first few times, even though we may not always get spooks, we still thoroughly enjoy exploring the building. However, it’s progressively become more restricted with each visit, with more doors being locked each visit. I spoke to one of the hosts this time who advised the owner now only allows access to 4 different areas during the event, which are changed up every so often. I understand this is out of your hands, but to keep the price the same just doesn’t seem fair, but also it may be worth listing which areas would be available prior to booking, as there were a couple of areas we’d wanted to see the most, and having known this wasn’t available this night would’ve been less of a “let down”. Also it might be worth giving quick reminders to guests that constantly talking/being loud during quieter “communication sessions” isn’t appropriate and spoils it for the rest of us, it’s very annoying when someone asks the spirits one question, then someone else jumps straight in seconds after with another, not giving any time to sit in silence and listen. I’m not sure if there’s something you guys can do about the Ouija/table tipping sessions too, because each time it feels like these are a main focus, and some of us prefer the equipment/scientific based stuff. Is it maybe possible to bring in an option for guests to stay with the more equipment based sessions and opt out of sitting watching people push around a Ouija board? To end on a positive, your host Mandy has always been fab, she’s been there on most of our visits and each time she has always been enthusiastic and knowledgeable!
Just done a ghost hunt in Oxford Caste. Absolutely nothing happened which isn't the fault of the team. However not once did we sit in a room with the lights out in silence trying to communicate with the spirits or hold a seance. They just split us up in teams and pressured us into using ouji boards that none of the group were comfortable doing as it wasn't open and closed properly. Then we were told to do table tipping. After that we were left to our own devices to explore. I don't quite know what I paid for other than access to a building late at night. The guide at the castle was absolutely fantastic and very informative. But we hadn't paid for a historical tour of the castle, we came to hunt ghosts!
Absolute waste of money. We were rushed about, the organisers were rude, told us to laugh and have fun but then we were pulled up if we laughed. Nothing happened but a complete unorganised event. I thought a book was on its side so went to put it upright on the shelf and got a right roasting! Never again. Save your money and go with a different company.
Had a great night on my first ghost hunt at Strelley Hall, plenty of places to explore and the staff were marginally great and Michael was very knowledgeable of the building. I feel however despite a good night, it felt a bit rushed, certain members of staff seemed a bit time constrained and may have misconceptually came across as rude which would not have been their intentions. This could be because to me the group was too large, there were noisier partakers on this night which did ruin the essence when walking around in free time, but I appreciate that the staff want everyone to experience as much as possible on the evening. Still, it was a highly enjoyable night and look forward to further ghost hunts in the future!
We went to Colchester castle recently. Overall it was a very entertaining evening. We witnessed some activity which seemed genuine others I am not so sure. I liked the mix of group activities with free time to explore. Our group was about 20 which I feel was fine given the size of the castle. The vaults were very eerie our group experienced growling along with the prison cells where one participant heard a lady frantically praying in Latin over the static/ white noise device. Two of the hosts were fab specially the guy but the third younger lady refused to do certain things, seemed very shaken up. Whilst no one should be forced to do anything they don't want to it seemed strange to have a host refusing to partake in some of the activities she was maybe new but seemed to lack some professionalism/ experience. We were told at the start there was some history outside but we were never taken outside, later on researching I found out about a headless nun ghost so it's a shame we did not cover this. Some bits felt time constricted and abit rushed but the evening flies by and you have to be done by a certain time so I do understand the need to be time conscious. Certain devices weren't working but were not tested with replacement batteries, I felt they could have been abit better prepared. We were given the excuse about spirits draining the batteries but surely you should carry spares to test this? Finally right at the end a guy had a spirit come through and speak on the face scry. My friend thought it was completely fake and said it ruined the evening, I am unsure but the whole speech given felt abit scripted? like an actor giving a monologue? it was still interesting either way. Overall it was a good evening and I am eager to try another hunt elsewhere to compare experiences!!
The best bits: The Nunnery in Malvern appeared to be very active, especially during the seances we carried out. Three stars for this. The worst - minus two stars. The organisers called a break that was at least 30mins - think it was nearly 45mins, which ate into our time and caused the organisers to hurry through the second half. Our group were left bored and annoyed that we were wasting time. The introduction was also too long also - I just wanted to know the background, H&S essentials and the evening’s scope. The lead female organiser liked the sound of her own voice and was hurrying groups about far too much - reminded us of a school trip. It was more like ‘Prisoner Cell Block H’ than ‘Most Haunted’.
