Hat Works is the UK's only museum dedicated to the hatting industry, hats and headwear.

Story

This award winning visitor attraction offers two floors of interactive exhibits taking you on a journey through the history of Stockport’s once thriving hatting industry.

The museum is home to a recreated hat factory with some 20 fully restored working Victorian-style machines and a fantastic collection of over 400 hats from around the world.

Experience a hub of excellence, creativity and innovation for milliners, crafts-people, designer makers and those with a keen interest in haute couture fashion and cutting edge textile design.

Don't miss our great Family Fun Zone, where younger visitors are entertained by a range of interactive and educational play provisions.

Nice Museum!! Great fun trying the hats seeing the old factory area. Free Museum
The place is not very busy. You can see there all process off the hats. Not much to do for kids. In my opinion place just for one visit.
Definitely my daughter loved this place just because she could try so many hats. If you think there is nothing fancy about hats, you wrong. I would never imagine there would be so many hats.
If you'd think this was boring think again. The way hats were made is interesting, what it took to do it and how they were used so much in society is has a lot behind it. Great visit to this museum.
Very nice and friendly museum. Playing area loved by a 2 year old. There used to be a café, the area of which can now be used for a picnic.
