Overall verdict: 7/10 Good food and service, I will visit again. Nice ambient atmosphere, very welcoming staff. Ramadan menu until 9.30 allows for limited options - I'm willing to wait. Ordered food at 21.27, delivered at 21.49 22 mins The Harlem Loaded Nachos Buttermilk Chicken & Waffle Sweet Potato Fries Nachos are incredible Full of flavour, perfect crispiness and veryy loaded Burger looks luscious, patty is a little dry, but made up by the shredded beef. Mac&cheese is a good compliment. Overwhelms all taste of the salad. Toasted brioche was perfect. Sweet potato fries mostly crispy and full of flavour, but some odd ones out were undercooked. Chicken & waffle tastes good, but although the portion is massive, the waffle is too much for the chicken - slightly smaller waffle or more chicken would be best. Also original amount of syrup not enough, had to ask for more they are very helpful like that Total bill: £43.31 Food: £38.50 Drinks: 0 Service charge: £4.81
Food was super filling even for me. The waitress was really lovely and gave great customer service. I see other reviews complaining about slow service but she and the manager were the only ones waiting tables and were doing a pretty good damn job at it. Haven't tried the Mac and cheese yet! But the Mac and cheese bites were and those nachos were also really loaded and hella good. Will defo visit when j get a chance to again! Thanks for the awesome service and food!
Huge tasty portions & very friendly staff. We ordered far more than we should have just to try. Highlight for me was the Harlem Soul fries topped with brisket & mac n cheese. Hubbie loved the soft shell crab & chicken with waffles. We also had Pepsis with cherry syrup & whole cherries at the bottom.
Round the corner from my house which is a bonus. The staff and the owner are very accommodating. They have the best chicken burgers I have every had. The meat is so juicy and seasoned well tastes even better the next day. The mac and cheese balls are fantastic, they are creamy but not oily. My friend had the bbq wings, which did lack a bit of flavour, the bbq sauce needs to be thicker so it can hold on to the wing more. The popcorn shrimps are good, the amount you get for the price is really good. They also have very good prosecco.
Rebranded from Boondocks to Harlem Soul. Operated by Bea Vo's Soul Food Enterprises. Currently running 25% discount which was given to us. We could see the open kitchen with images of the food laid out to keep consistency. They are well on their way. Located off the busy City Road, no parking during controlled hours 7am to 7pm. Vibrant colourful restaurant set across 2 floors. Full Halal menu, however alcohol is also served here. Good ambience however found the music very overwhelmingly loud. Clean and tidy establishment with excellent service, very friendly staff. Food came out quite quick. Drinks We ordered the New Yorker and the Virgin Mocktail, both were underwhelming and not very nice. £5 for the priveledge. We ordered all of their wings to try. Half portion which was £6.50 each. BBQ Sticky BBQ Cola Wings, House Slaw, Radish Buffalo Messy Wings, House Blue Cheese Sauce, Celery, Slaw Hot Harlem Sassy Hot Sassy, Spring Onion, Coriander, Slaw Gochujang Gochujang Sauce, Fresh Chilli, Togarashi Seasoning, Slaw We enjoyed the Gochujang wings the most, followed by the Buffalo. The other two were just lacking depth in flavour. Mains: We ordered the burgers THE HARLEM £14.00 Grilled Beef Patties, Shredded Short Rib, American Mac & Cheese House Pickle & Thousand Island Dressing, Toasted Brioche This we though was quite expensive, however tasted very nice. However, the patties were over cooked. If they got this right I would have increased the review to 4*. A huge selection of chips to chose from that come with the burgers some of which include: chunky chips, fries, sweet potato fries etc. I selected the sweet potato fries which was very nice both crispy and light. MAC & CHEESE £11.00 Deep Fried Mac & Cheese Patty, Chilli Relish, Red Pepper Ketchup & House Pickle Toasted Brioche V This burger was also received well. We finished off with a slice of peanut butter and reese's chocolate cheese cake. Which we share between 5. Not because it was large but very rich and sweet. Couple of spoons and itll give you your fix. Very well enjoyed however cannot possibly eat one by yourself unless you have and incredible love for desserts. Overall a very nice experience, a bit on the expensive side but some unique food. Will visit again in the future.
We tried Prawn and crab tacos. Oh so good I also tried their lager. It wasn't a big deal so skip that if you like and try the bottled ones. We went in the afternoon and the place had chill vibes. The staff is super friendly. I would go back here for the food, for the quirky Graffiti in their walls, the good vibes! It is 5mins walk from the underground.
Went to the Gospel Brunch which was amazing! Such a feel good vibe with live music and singing, perfect for a Sunday afternoon. The food was to die for; I ordered from the Brunch menu which was great for wanting to remain healthy it also had an array of options for all you Vegan and Vegetarians out there. I'll definitely be back again.
Nice atmosphere and music, plus very friendly service. Not too crowded either. I tried the soft shell crab and the chicken strips. The seasoning didn't quite do it for me on either, but they were well-cooked. Not quite right for my taste palette, but I think others might enjoy it. Worth a try if you're in the area.
Great NYC food in Shoreditch ! Replacing "Boondocks", Bea Vo's new venture, Harlem Soul, brings the delicious flavours of NYC to Old Street. Chorizo balls, Mac& Cheese bites, buttermilk chicken strips, chicken burger, grilled steak tacos...just a selection of the best dishes we tasted and were not disappointed; great flavours! A sweet waffle to finish the perfect experience. The team looking after us was amazing, showing great customer skills and a desire to do a job well - hats off to them; they were just excellent! Lovey vibrant place, party/music downstairs was too loud, food came quite late due to being really busy. However, the serviced received from their staff especially our server Kevin was just superb, looked after us during whole time despite the issues with food lateness he kept us in good moods, defo coming back. Food 5/5 Decor 4/5 Service 5/5 Price - Reasonable
