The availability of the booking times is very good, which is the primarily reason I've used Halfords. However, on my last visit when I was collecting my car, the engineer left the car with the lights switched on and the battery in my car died. I couldn't start the engine. The guy from Halfords had to jump start my car. Also when was handed back my book, there was no stamp or record of any service done to the car. I needed to go back to the reception desk and ask for the stamp. They've also recommended few repairs (amber). This to me seems like they want you to unnecessarily spend more money with them. For example, they recommended replacing spark plugs which should be replaced every 40,000 miles as they said there is no history of this being replace with Halfords. My car mileage is 68,000 miles so clearly, the plugs had to be replaced at least once if 40,000 miles is the benchmark. In my car, history book, there is a note that these were replaced when the car had done 41,000 miles but they didn't bother to look into this. They just wanted £92 for replacing the spark plugs.

Needed suspension work doing ASAP and usually I just go directly to Audi. On this occasion I could not get the car book into Audi so I chose Halfords because at least I could book in online fairly quickly, so my car was not off the road for a great deal of time. The staff seemed prompt to help me out and even advised against unnecessary work..... only replacing the key part that had broken ( shock spring). They explained that they should really replace BOTH springs at the same time however to save a bit of money it was not really worth it. ( on the basis of " it isn't broken, don't fix it") .... I found this good ....as at least because they were being honest. The total cost for a service and MOT and repair to a coil and mount was £385. If I took the car to Audi then it would have been at least £500. My only questionable concern with somewhere like Halfords is the quality of the parts..as they will will not be genuine parts but aftermarket ones. ( always the nagging doubt maybe regarding durability ).... But non the less on this visit I'm pretty happy.

Don't waste your time here. I booked in for a free brake check with the intention of getting them to change my rear pads on my my Jaguar. Phoned up on 27/04/18 around 2pm and booked in for an hour slot at 10am on 02/04/18, which was a Bank Holiday. I made my way to the auto center as per the agreed time to be told they had no booking for me and I must have made a mistake, nope the mistake was on their part, you see they managed to book the Am slots that day with guaranteed paid work so you get removed. The guy at the desk wasn't interested, even though from the free brake check I was going to get my brake pads changed. Poor service.

Big advantage using Halfords for my van oil change - they use proper oil, not recycled muck and their mechanics know their job. Ive used their Bury New Road branch several times without problem, they are consistently friendly and just get on with the job with no nonsense.

Staff are very rude. I went in after purchasing a tyre from them 1 month ago which had deflated. I asked them to pump it up and was told to wait 2 hours even though they had no customers waiting. Very poor service. Stay away
